Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
Just bend the suburban brackets up.. You can use the bench bracket as a guide..
A large hammer does the trick. It took about 5 Minutes. Posted via Mobile Device |

Lol....a big hammer does fix most things lol. I just wanted to use what parts I already had around....I thought about just bending the brackets but I wanted less of a geico caveman approach to it....lol.

Heres mine. Came from a early to mid 90's truck. It fits pretty good for me . It's a thinner seat to fit my long legs.

Here are the ones I used in my 2wd crew front and back, bit of modifying but all in all pretty simple process. Might use these again here, but want to look at some options. Heated, memory, power seats from a 2000 Chrysler Concorde. Probably ditching the headrests as I have always liked the low backs over tall. http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...02Medium-2.jpg |

Devillusion, They were pretty simple to install. Just remove the mounting brackets and use the ones off you old bench seat. To mount to the seat you will have to drill a new hole on the rear and put a large sheet metal scew in it.There is a place on the seat to do this. On the front of the seat you will have to block it up 1-1/2". I used a piece of wood about 6" long and mounted it left to right with some large sheet metal scews and then scewed the track to that. Worked out great and it seems to be at the right height. I mounted two of them like this . Just have to get the measurement on the hole centers on the truck to get the tracks space correctly. Took me about hour and a half. |

Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
oh yea good idea...please mount those seats. it's important. last fall i bought a nova with much $$$ in the motor only to find small self tapping trim screws holding the racing seats in place. what the truck was somebody thinkin? easy eject? wow pants almost turned brown when i found those small screws. why throw the oars out in the middle of the lake?

I would have to agree....and even going as far as putting another plate or massive washer underneath if you have to drill holes through the sheetmetal, that sheetmetal itself won't hold much. On the ones above I welded in plates top and bottom 1/8" plate. Just to be on the safe side, kids will be riding around in mine. |

I like these swaps guys. I went a little newer then most of you..
I put a second row seat out of a 2011 Tahoe into my 86 GMC. I had to take off ALL the original mounting brackets and make my own out of angle iron. drilled new holes in my floor as well. Attachment 1033761 Attachment 1033762 Attachment 1033763 |

Just picked these up at Pic-A-Part
1997 Cadillac Eldorado Power recline as well as heated. Black leather $50 each. Note the large flat aluminum seat tracks. Should be an easy straight forward install. Will post pics when finished. http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/...CF6BCE1425.jpg http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/...CF6880C45E.jpg http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/...CF65204222.jpg |

How difficult was this swap? Do you happen to have any pictures of the brackets you made? Love the way that looks in there. Nicely done, and how much higher do you sit with those bad boys? |

That is exactly what I am trying to do in my 86! I wanted a leater bench seat style with some comfort and a faold down console. I am actually looking to use the back seats from a King Ranch ediction Ford (I know, sort of sacriligious, but they look real nice). How much leg room do you have compared to the original seat and how much modification did you need to do to make them work in the cab? Plus, any more pictures you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Sorry I missed your question 8 months ago  I actually used a Hi-Lift Jack mounting bracket to help create the inboard mount. I cut the bracket in half then welded it to the Suburban seat frame. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3089/3...106c76d0_z.jpg http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6218/7...ba1df1c1_c.jpg Hi-lift jack bracket that I cut in half. Worked perfectly  http://www.jeepbrokers.com/Product%2...ft_jack_16.JPG Here are the seats after re-upholstery http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5214/5...7e018558_z.jpg 2010 GMC center fabric http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5212/5...eb477982_z.jpg |

2007 Subaru Impreza buckets and a Blazer console in my '71 stepside. Not a 73-87, but I've done the same thing with an 85. I did a how to, that works for most odd-ball buckets from wrecking yards. |
Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
These are 2nd row seats from a honda odyssey ('take outs' from handicap conversion vans). Cheap, new and matched the 91 chevy light gray perfect led me to this decision.
These are the brackets I had to make: http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a59...nCrew/0040.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a59...ps3eb38bf4.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a59...ps4f88db10.jpg |
Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
Carboncrew, I like those, how wide are they? I tired to fit an early 90' series bench in my 86' but it was not wide enough and didn't line up with the steering wheel.
Thanks! |
