Your original booster has a slightly different stud pattern than the boosters my bracket is designed to work with. Your booster is 3-1/2" x 3-1/2", and my booster bracket hole pattern is 3-3/8" x 3-1/2". You will just have to slightly elongate the booster mounting holes. Other than that and lengthening the booster pushrod the booster bracket will bolt right to your firewall. Let me know.

As far as I know it should work. But just to be sure, I would send the seller a message and ask him if the stud pattern on the booster is 3-3/8" x 3-1/2" center to center.

Very cool product. Im looking to add hydroboost to my 72 and will use this if it will make it easier.
Whats the hot set up for hydroboost? What booster/ MC are people using in combo with your bracket? Im going with a dana 44 front and 14FF with disc in the rear if that matters. Ive already added a hydro clutch setup using a MC from a 90s truck. Do you have a bracket for the 67-72 that incorporates a hydro clutch MC? I know everybodys setup is different, but will this bracket interfere with a hydro MC? thanks |

You can use most any hydroboost unit, with the mounting plate that I offer. Some of the late 80's early 90's Astro van units will bolt right up. As for the master for what you're doing, there is this master vylinder that seems to work well acording to the members over on CK5......

I am not aware of having to trim the column bracket. As far as I know the booster bracket should have enough clearance. As for sealing the hole, the bellows on the booster has been sufficient for me. There may be something that others are using that I am not aware of. Maybe the original for the '67-'72 trucks?

I've got a '67 that had drum/drum and is still column shift. I've swapped to disc up front and am ready to go power. What is the advantage to your adapter vs. an aftermarket booster / cylinder combo? I'll be small block eventually and will ditch the column shift, but for now it'll have to work. Explain why I should use your adapter and what other parts i'll need to get or fab.

Well as far as aftermarket booster brackets, mine is the only one that is a direct bolt on, with no hole drilling required. Plus mine does not locate the booster and master so far from the firewall as the factory style brackets do. But this is the reason mine will not work with the column shift. Once you have a compatable booster and the correct master for your braking system, you will have to extend the booster pushrod to connect with your brake pedal.

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. With most vacuum boosters, this bracket will not work on a column shift truck. If you use a hydroboost, then it should not be a problem.

I'm going to cut a V the shift lever under the booster and cock it over so it doesn't hit the booster and then just cut the linkage bar to fit. So instead of it being straight it'll lean inboard at the top. I'll post pics when I get mine done.

Yes there is a problem with the column shift. The shift lever hits most of the boosters that are used. Sounds like mmmBoost has an idea how to overcome the issue, but it sounds like he has not done it yet.
When I designed this booster bracket, I was working on a 4 speed truck that was going to be a floor shifter automatic. It did not dawn on me until after a member bought ont, that there was a problem with the column shifted trucks. Apparently this is why the factory brackets locate the booster so far from the firewall. You can use any disc/drum proportioning valve and master with any of the compatable boosters. Quote:

What is the depth of your bracket top and bottom? Would the use of the '88-98 S10 (or similar) booster be essentially the same additional power as a 3/4 or 1 ton booster? It's just a matter of it being dual diaphragm? Do you know the diameter of the boosters you recommend? Does having the booster closer to the firewall lessen the stopping power of the power assembly because the arm is shorter and therefore has less leverage? I ask because, before coming across your bracket, I was wondering why I couldn't just mount the booster directly to the firewall. I'm just thinking it looks better without that deep, ugly bracket, and I'm running the straight six with the stock air cleaner, so I need the clearance. I hate the look of the offset I6 air cleaner that puts it over the valve cover...hate it. Your bracket may be the way to go if I can make sure I'll have the air cleaner and throttle cable clearance (because of the I6). I'm using a Lokar floor shifter, so the column shift is not an issue. I don't have the dimensions of my booster brackets handy. I am at home now and all of the parts I fabricate are at my shop. I can get you some measurements tomorrow.
The S10's had an optional dual diaphram booster that is aproximately 9" in diameter. It is identified with the RPO code of JM3 or JM5. This booster is similar to the '67-'70 C20/30 boosters. The diameter of the compatable boosters varies by application. I do not have a listing of those measurements. The distance the booster is from the firewall has absolutely no bearing on the leverage applied by the brake pedal Quote:

The top of the bracket is a little over 1-3/4" out from the firewall, and the bottom is a little over 2-1/4" out. So it is 1/2" difference over a span of 5". Quote:

It appears to be 9in at largest diameter. I recall the end off one of the shift rods made contact with it but I trimmed it a minor amont

I have my column pushed in about 1 3/4" or so I believe(not sure I'd have to measure), and I have lots of room. I didn't do that to make the booster fit though, I did that when I put the column in for comfort. I turned the bolt around on shifter before I put the bracket because I thought I would need the space, but I don't think that was necessary and I plan on turning it back around.

The guys that had the interference issue with the column shifter hitting the booster were using a typical 10-11" diameter OEM booster.
