Oh....the radio issue....I have never owned a vehicle without a radio but it would almost be a shame to add a radio to this truck now after its been around 41 years without one!!! What do you think?;) Dale |
Re: 1969 GMC Short Fleet Build
Well, you have a point. An Ipod would work I guess.............
|
Re: 1969 GMC Short Fleet Build
There's always hidden audio components... I would have the stock AM radio in my had the PO not hacked the dash. Nothin' like static!

I received my new wheels from Summit. 17 x 8 Summit Legends. This is about as close as I can get to 5 spoke Coys keeping the six lug axles. I am going to mount P275/60R-17 in the rear and P245/60R-17 on the front.;)

Re: 1969 GMC Short Fleet Build
Dale, those are going to look killer on your truck! Wasn't aware you were considering adding custom wheels, but you made a good choice. :D
|
Re: 1969 GMC Short Fleet Build
man that is a sweet truck. love the wheels and a pat on the back for keeping it a 6 lugger. one question, noticed in the pics on the lift, does it have coils out back? neat to see a gmc with them, my chevy has leafs.

A 60 series tire (in 17's) is huge, for a lowered truck. |
Re: 1969 GMC Short Fleet Build

You may be right, My truck is lowered 2.5 in. in the front and 3in. in the rear. I'll look into it. I have not bought tires yet, so there is still time to get this right. Thanks for the tip. Dale |

P255/50R-17 for the front. I think this may work. Thanks for the Heads-up. Dale |

I also went by Bumbera's, they had the rear Trailing arms cleaned-up, painted and new bushings installed. They were bolting up the new Inner Fenders when I got there.......

Re: 1969 GMC Short Fleet Build
Wow, what a great project, love it!!!....i have that same rubber on my 68...nice tire, they dont last long with a 468 in front of em...lol..
|
Re: 1969 GMC Short Fleet Build
You did good with your tire choices.
I was going to suggest the 275's for the rear,... but alot of people want the same size on all four corners. I like your choice better. |

You might want to look at a 255/50-17 tire for your truck. A 60 series tire (in 17's) is huge, for a lowered truck. Keith, I also like the stance with the slightly bigger tire on the rear. If you had not said something, there would have been 60 series tires mounted right now. Thanks again. Thanks to all of you that posted for the encouraging comments. Dale |
Re: 1969 GMC Short Fleet Build
Those turned out nice Dale... and I'm in agreement with Keith, spot on with the tire selection.

Probably about $50.00 for the set including the tires. Let me know when you list them.

Re: 1969 GMC Short Fleet Build
Treading close to these parts being offered for sale, and I'd hate to see this beautiful truck thread locked.
Can't wait to see you subscribe to the board! :D Do they have an expected time for the install/suspension to be completed? |
Re: 1969 GMC Short Fleet Build
Just caught this thread. Nice truck to say the least!

Nah, gotcha covered Travis, and I think that Dale is completely on the same page. Just wanted to state it in a positive/joking way so that it was covered but not eventually locked or anything. I gotta see how this build turns out. :D
|
Re: 1969 GMC Short Fleet Build
Nice truck Dale! Travis, stop causing problems
|
Re: 1969 GMC Short Fleet Build
Dale, I was looking at the same wheels you have from Summit in 5 lug, how's the quality? They seem to be reasonably priced.
