Re: '49 chevy with s-10
another quick question... how low is your cab mounted to your frame? looking at that, if the back is layed out on the runningboards, your cab would probably be almost flush with the framerails....?

Re: '49 chevy with s-10
Interested in what you have done and don't live to far away.....what s-10 frame did you use and what all did you have to do to make it work? I'm looking at a 48 to do something similar too

Re: '49 chevy with s-10
This is one fine truck! I've been following your build and I must say it is basically a plan for my 52. I have the s10 frame and I'm collecting parts to get a head start. I believe you said your gonna run re6s on the front, could you take some up close pics of where you cut the pocket out to clear the bags. Any help in that area would make it easier when I start. Thanks and keep up the good work and of course lots of pics to follow along with.

you dont have to massively cut your frame. dont touch your frame until you have bags in hand. that way you dont over cut it. |

Re: '49 chevy with s-10
I strongly recommend going with a bigger bag. I had re-6's in the front of my s10, which has a v6 and weighs a lot less than your truck will. It takes twice the pressure to get full lift than a size bigger bag, and will ride a lot better than re-6's. They take way too much pressure to lift an s10 much less a 49 chevy. You will be swapping them out in the future if you don't now, and cutting the pocket more. I would run re-7s in front and back, possibly re-8s in the back depending on clearance of your tire.
Edit: Slam bags do not balloon as much as airlift and other bags, so you can cut less and have a larger bag. |
Re: '49 chevy with s-10
Thanks for the input I'm sure it will save me time and headaches when I start the plan is re7s on the front and 9000s on the rear with a tri 4 bar. Thanks again!

Re: '49 chevy with s-10
How wide is your 9"? I assume it's narrowed since it's the later housing.
