I bought a 9" ford local off Craigslist with a back brace , early style large bearing ends and is 48" . I also found a set of 31 spline Mosers on the bullet that were built for the exact set up ( believe that luck ) . I have a 31 spline spool , but im thinking about buying an aftermarket case and using a Nascar detroit locker off ebay as they can be had for around $200 shipped . This will give me a wheel mount to wheel mount of 53" . Factory is 54.5" , so 3/4" per side narrower allowing me to run up to a 4.5 backspace wheel . I currently have 15 x 10 4 " back space but 4.5 backspace is alot more popular .

I am stuck on the "stock suspension" classes . I could have back halved it but then i'd be limited class wise . The old school backhalve classes are fast (4.80's) . Stock suspension classes run 275's or 26 x 8.5's and are around the 5.90's , this will give me a place to work into . Primary goal right now is Pinks all out and 7.0 index . I have a daughter going to college soon so it's going to be slower index stuff or nothing for a few years .

Sorry , i did get the housing finished , but my dad has congestive heart failure and has been hospitalized on and off for 2 monthes . He has only 15% heart muscle alive . Just got word he will not be getting released . They have already sent him home with the "nothing more we can do". Just the dye to check for blockage would probably shut his kidneys down & he is having 2 to 5 seizsures a day . Been spending most of my free time with him . Pretty much put projects on hold to enjoy what time is left .

Thoughts and prayers with you hotrod. It's a very tough time in a boys life. There will be plenty of time for the toys later. Keep your chin up.

Prayers sent from the Tolliver's. I lost a very dear uncle a couple weeks ago and I'm so glad I spent the weekend with him the weekend before he passed. My Uncle Larry was recently diagnosed with cancer and his heart couldn't take the chemo.

Thanks guys this really means alot . I haven't had time to be here and i post up and get a warm welcome right back in . I feel amoungst friends , thanks . I also hauled the 49' ( my moms fathers old truck ) down there last saturday and showed it to her and took a bunch of pictures of it . They haven't seen the old truck in probably 10 years and couldn't believe it . Mom was crying as she learned to drive in it . Dad was surprised when he saw it . Kinda made his week i think .

I'm sorry to hear this. I know how you feel....I lost my dad 7 years ago on Sept 2. In fact today would have been his 77th birthday. I can still remember saying good bye to him the last time. Make the most of what time you have left with him. My prayers are with you and your family.

Thanks , I'll try and keep the updates current.

Some how i ordered the the wrong alternator bracket . Sent it back and im waiting on the replacement . Got the factory oil pressure light working in conjunction with the after market gauge . I also got the factory temp gauge working . Used a 76 F250 390 sender as the ohms value matched the Luv gauge . The truck at some point the alt wiring was modified for a 1 wire . I located the factory charge light wiring to exite the alt and the add on wire to the battary will be the voltage sensing wire and the factory charge wire will be reused . I am setting it up for a CS130 .

I am also working on the pulley and radiator position , building front spring eye bushings , I ll do a picture update coming up .

Re: New project

Update , took the truck to the track last weekend for the last offical race of the season . They have a new class called street legal warrior i wanted to try . I signed up and filled both bottles . My first 2 passes where qualifying and test & tune all rolled up into 1 . It went 7.34 on motor with the throttle only opening the back barrels about 1/4 of the way and no spray . I also set the nitrous regulator at the track due to a couple of all night thrashes to get the thing together . On the second pass with 600 # of bottle pressure straight out of the ice it went 6.73 I missed the 1 2 shift and bounced off the rev limiter and it was crazy fat . 3rd pass was first round of elems i left on him by .17 and had him covered @60' , about 280-300' the throttle cable popped off and i coasted to being trailer bound . Had alot of fun and got a list of stuff to work on til the next one . Drag radials are a different monster .

Here is the new linkage set up .

I'll bet that lil truck would be popping the front tires off the ground fairly easy.

Nice setup.

Re: New project

still trying to get this thing ready for next season . Bought a set of 73-87 sepside rear taillights and mounted them to the bed as the trailer lights that were on it didnt work . Also got it to the muffler shop (Petes muffler here in Baytown ( shamless plug ) ) . The rules call for street leagal exhaust , tags ,, inspection ,, etc . Doesnt say i have to make passes through muffler , so 3" pipe to 3" cutouts ( manual) to 3" 80 series big block mufflers with dumps in front of the axle . picking it up tommorow . Be nice to drive it without the reverb .

Chassis dyno sceduled Friday @ 10 . Then Chromemolly the following monday. Here is the currents . Added some LED boat lights . Truck had a direct short im the running lights . Everytime i pulled the lights on it blew the fuse . The horn didnt work either . Dash lights had none factory lights scabbed in , so i cut all that out and fixed the factory dash lights . All connections soldered and heat shinked . Put the dash back together and installed new horn and Mikado wheel Everythong is legal except emergency brake , but it think i can still get a sticker Probably end up with a disc on the rear end yoke . I also pulled the old tach and added one of the new auto meter auto sticks . Ordered a 1 gallon fuel cell for the Nitrous fuel system . I will run race fuel in it Ready to put tunes in . A/C & heat next . Plate ,, noids and hoses going to Induction solutions coming up . Then power steering .
