Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
What's up with buying new control arms?
|
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
I'm gonna bag the truck over time when I can find parts on sale or what not
I wanna do the front first because i'm starting to mess up my tires because of bottoming out with how low it is Basically an excuse to bag it. But I'm gonna keep my eyes open for deals. |

Are you running factory coils in the front? |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Yeah I was looking at someone build thread and said to myself I wanna lay frame
so it will be take a while for me to earn up the money cause I may buy other stuff in the process but I'm doing it with my dad so maybe he will bag his 72 Cheyenne after I do mine!! I'm running cut factory coils they don't bottom out bad but I would rather have the bag setup |

If yo ureplaced those coils with some dropped Belltechs, you'd notice a world of difference. |

Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
I see you have a corner marker lens that fell off -- mine just did the same thing; it was even the bottom driver's side, just like yours.
|
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Yeah I got new ones but I just noticed condensation in the drivers bottom left
one. Makes me mad! I also got an oem 3rd brake light lens. My original was made in the USA and the new one china. My new one is a good two inches too short in the back! Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Looking nice man. love the stance. Wish i could lower mine that low, i just use it to darn much as a truck.
keep at it man. |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
I got air shocks in the back if I need to carry a load or I'll just use my
dads truck ha Thanks forthe comment Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
it's time for smoothie bumpers on both. removing the molding makes such a huge difference. nice trucks!
|
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Thanks for the complement.
I got a box in the mail today from BlackBear Performance. Just the scan cable though. So ready for my speedo to be fixed. On a side note I just started aviation mechanic school! Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Thats cool stick with that, places around here pay pretty good for their aviation mechanics.

Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Thanks and I plan on it.
But back to the truck, I am looking at the GM Hotcam now for my engine Posted via Mobile Device |

|
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Haven't really done much to the truck lately. I have a roll pan and I'm gonna shave the tailgate. And change up the exhaust a little bit. That's about all for now I'll have to get some updated pics.
Posted via Mobile Device also my truck just passed over the 210k mile mark |

|
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Nice job so far! What other plans do you have for it?
|
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Haven't posted anything in a while but My tranny finally decided to go on me guess after 214k miles it did pretty well.
In the mean while i took the roll pan off.. liked it but i need to be able to tow trailers and my dads old truck just aint cuttin it anymore. In the next month i plan on mini tubin the front and maybe doin a little custom stuff under the hood. Not to the engine just cosmetic. Hopefully by tuesday of next week i'll be crusin around in it again... hopefully |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
what drop does it have?
|
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
i would like to say its a 4 or 5 inch drop in front and an 7 or 8 in the back.
In the front it has 2 inch drop spindles and factory coil which have been cut. In the back it has a flip kit and the shackles but it has an extra leaf or something to handle the extra weight of towing trailers and i have air shocks which bring it up a lil more to |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project

Well its been a while thought i would show it as it sits now. Now it has hotckis 2in lowering coils in the front. |

Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Normally colormatched wheels look odd but they look really good on yours. Sweet truck..

Truck looks a million times better than when it started (no offense to Pops!). You list the tire sizes but I didnt see anywhere in the four pages the wheel diameters or offsets. I see that you planned on minitubbu=ing the front. Did you get going on that? Does it still rub up front? |
