Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Those look nice, do you have room for a center console?

Hey Tri5nerd, I have enough room but I don't know if I want one. I kind of like the simplicity of Cal58GMC's interior. I don't want something too busy. I don't know what I'm going to do until I do it.lol You know me.lol I try to do what the truck calls for, ya know the theme of the truck. |
Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Those are nice seats. I'm sure you said it before but what are they out of?
Kim |
Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Thanks Kim,
They are out of a 1998 Dodge Intrepid, I paid 120 for them at pull your part. Can you believe they charged me 10 bucks more because one was electric?lol Then he looked at me like I was going to put them back over 10 bucks.lol I'll post pics of how I chose to install them when I take some pics this weekend. I can tell you one thing there is only junk at the yards near my house now. I know that the hotrodders have been through there.lol |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Those seats really look good in there. I know you now you are going to lose sleep over what type of center console you're going to build. Hey did you get your steering wheel yet. Now is the time to get it with prices the way they are. This is even 25 bucks less then what I paid for the same wheel on my Pontiac
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/14-Ch...item5d2cffdb4b Just thought I show you since you said you like this style, but lok at all the steering wheels they got some good deals. |
Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Now you know that steering wheel does not fit the theme of my truck. So just stop it. Whats the rush man, why are you rushing me? You can never say anything nice and leave it at that can you? With friends like you, man you know the rest.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
I aint rushing you, I just gave you a friendly push.....I mean nudge:sumo::lol:

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Hey thanks for not siccing your dog on me when I came over to look at the truck. It looks really nice I promise not to post the pictures I took, " PROMISE" But man those seats really look nice in there and when you installed the _ _ _ _ _ _ _:uhmk: that really made the interior come alive:metal::lol:.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
1998 Dodge Intrepid Seats I like them because of the low back and they do not stick up through the rear window.
I wanted them to screw right into the floor so I made some bracing out of 3/16 metal and welded that to the floor with bolts. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5204/...6489364d60.jpg I then had to modify the mount from this to this. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5202/...fcfd0711ba.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5010/...f78ab1706d.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5130/...73fe8f3685.jpg Here are a couple of shot of the seats installed. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5249/...d8fa9b5b5a.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5246/...2443f3b817.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5244/...0465347c0e.jpg |
Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
I got the lokar shifter mock up today, even though BCtoyChest stop by to bother me and would not let me work. lol I think I will like it.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
I spent the rest of the day working on the flip hood. Since I pancaked the hood the kit does not fit right. I had to shorten all the bracing in the front. It would work fine with the regular hinges but I want the flip so for every action there is a reaction and I will get it done somehow. If my wife is nice, I guess I will spent the bulk of my weekend working on it. But anyway here are some pics.

very nice build...
I am keeping an eye on this. |
Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Kawbe your truck is really coming along. That truck is so bad a$$!! I love looking at your build because of the ingenious ideas you always have. Can't wait to see more.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
The smooth steps came out gr8. That hood and the flip kit look good, you didn't let me get any pictures with the hood open when I was over today. That's ok I'll be by tomorrow, LOL.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Hey kabwe, I see what you mean about the seats. Thats cool the way they sit just under the window.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
I really like the fit of the seats. You are 100% right about not having the seat stick out above the window. I've seen big window trucks with Cadillac seats in them, and it looks like the builder used a sofa instead of a seat. Yuk.
The steps turned out great, too. I'm beginning to wonder if there's any part of that truck that hasn't been massaged. With the rest of the mods you have done, the steps will blend in nicely. I'm guessing that you're going to smooth the tailgate as well? How well did the shifter fit? There aren't too many options on classy looking shifters, and the Lokar is probably the nicest one of the bunch. I'm figuring that I'll be doing the Lokar shifter thing, too. I know what you mean about getting the hood to fit. Once you cut the inner bracing out of it, it becomes so flexible that it almost seems like you can bend it in half. The previous owner louvered mine and didn't get the skin welded back on correctly, so I'll have to make some structural mods to stiffen it all back up. |
Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
nice build and I wish I had your metal working skills, nice work. we have some of the same ideas. my 50 has the same drivetrain and seats and I also am going to do a reverse flip hood.
|
Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Thanks for all the compliment guys.
BC Toy chest, The next time the dog will attack. Chevyrestoguy, The seat sticking up through the back window is a real pet peeve of mine. The shifter fit great with zero modifications and I'm not use to that it made me feel like I cheated.lol Yeah the tailgate will be smooth also. Actually I'm making my own. 50adrod, You have a very nice truck I just finished checking it out again today and it looks great. Yeah we are doing a lot of the same things I also have those engine covers.lol http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5290/...a70e3a7a00.jpg |
Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Those Intrepid seats look like a great fit. I agree with the seat being not visible in the back window. Those seats that stick up look wrong. You've mounted them nice and low. How is it for leg room when you sit in it? Us guys with the small back window can probably mount them a bit higher.

Drill the hole in the step, install the bolt and grind the head of the bolt off and weld it. Make sure when you install them do not over torque them and you will be fine. |
Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
It was not the hood it was me, I installed the bracket upside down.lol This is what happens when you try to beat the moon.lol You rush and do things backwards. Now I can focus all my attention to panel alignment.
