Your not messing around much are you? Very cool. Love the garage. See some stuff I need to do to mine.:ito: How much does your rear move from side to side when you go from full up to full down?

project 67 sub 04-01-2011 04:13 AM

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet

haha sounds like it will turn out pretty sweet. mine is pretty rusty body wise, but the pan is pretty good, not perfect (a little in battery tray area and up front where the body bolts to the pan on the underside of the napoleon hat area), but considering how rusty the body is ( all 4 wheel wells, front fire wall, heater channels, front spare tire well area, and a little in the door bottoms, and a few other small places) im really suprised the pan not just as bad lol.

coulter 04-01-2011 10:14 PM

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet

Seems like it would be much stronger if you welded it all the way around the top and on the inside, instead if the tabs. I think a lot strenght comes from tieing that box into the orginial arm. I know it's kinda hard to weld the inside. Just a thought.:smoke: Every time I look at your pictures I want a new camera.:mm: Never mind. I looked closer and it looks like you did weld it.Da :metal:

creep 04-07-2011 12:34 PM

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet

You may want to drill a hole in each corner of your cups to allow for water drainage.

coulter 04-07-2011 03:11 PM

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet

ya its kinda hard to tell from the pic but it is welded on the inside to.. and im gonna drill the drainage holes when i drill the holes for the bag bolts... thanx for lookin out though guys!!!

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet

things to get one next:

pull bed off and do the frame work for the raised bed floor and make my adjustable solid bed mounts

pull from clip back off to trim the fenderwells
cut end of the frame off and lower it to lower the bumper
shave a few holes in the firewall
run my new brake lines and fuel line
then reinstall the front clip
shave down the tires to make the white walls bigger
then it will be time to finish the motor

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet

well got a little bit more done today..
but first let me show you what happened yesterday!!

this was the bearing that was in the neck of an engine stand i am borrowing.. i was gonna move the motor from my garage to my shop on the side of my house
right as i was pushing it out of the door i hit a small crack in the sidewalk and 1 of the bearings in the neck of that stand exploded and my motor went for a concrete dive..
luckly it didnt really do any major damage.. it managed to not touch the end of the crank at all!!!!!
http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/7924/25487358.jpg

broke the water neck, few spark plugs, dented up my valve covers
o well i wanted aluminum finned vc's anyway :metal::metal:
http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/6818/12865045.jpg

luckly i was smart enough to pull these off before i tried to move it
http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/2529/85279639.jpg
got these from a buddy for 250.. never been ran before
the drivers side hangs bout an inch below the factory oil ... i might have to cut it down a lil bit
http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/722/38209071.jpg

i cleaned and painted my intake mani
http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/5060/34987344.jpg

then i played around with an idea of how im gonna mount my bed and raise the floor and what not
i had to find a good use for this cool looking spiral stock i had
http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/3272/14067077.jpg

im gonna take the factory rails out and weld this across a lil higher to raise the floor to clear the notch
http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/8277/58830103.jpg

on the bottom part of the spiral it is solid so im gonna drill and tap all of them to 1/2 inch or so and have jack bolts coming out of the stock mounts on the frame so i can adjust the bed any way i want to!!!!:metal::metal:
http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2961/63007923.jpg

ive pretty much got it figured out how im gonna do it so i will prolly pull the bed back off pretty soon to do all the welding.. still have to figure out how much i gotta cut those wheel tubs..

daverod 04-09-2011 11:43 PM

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet

Sucks about the engine. Why do you want to raise and lower your bed floor? Is that a 350 my finned covers wouldnt clear.

coulter 04-10-2011 12:23 AM

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet

im making it to where i can adjust the whole bed to make it really easy to get the body lines how i want..plus im thinking bout doing a small body drop on the cab so this will make it easier to line it up if i do end up doing that..
also i want a factory looking wood bed and i dont want a big hole in the middle so im raising the wheel tubs and the height of the floor
and no it is a 454...hope i dont have to do too much cutting on the firewall
