i was miss informed it was 2WD. so not worth squat.

Call these guys: http://www.dieselfixer.com/

My suburban has one of their engines in it, 32000 miles on it and still like new, no loss of power. Trust me, well worth the money.

I'm not sure if this is the route to go. i can go to the bone yard and pick up a otor and everything (if it's still there) for fairly cheap and rebuild it my self but this guy swears it's been well maintained and well cared for and only has 140 xxx KM on it.

What would you guys do?

counter offer 500 bucks, that guy plann to rob you.

Lol, I got my 6.5 with a whole 1995 G3500 Vandura wrapped around it for $500. Seeing this thread, not sure if I got a good deal, or not.

I say just keep looking. I ran into mine out of the blue...

As far as what you need, as long as you have the complete engine, and the matching transmission you are good to go. The only real wires going to the engine are to the starter, the glow plug controller, IP shut off, the AC compressor if you have one, and the alternator. A factory tray can be cut to work on the opposite side, and the cables are easy enough to make with a torch, flux, and solder.

Scroll down for a modded tray.

Yes but I have missed out on alot of good parts also. Kind of lookin for a 4wd nv4500 but they seem to be hard to find around here. Also for a descent price.

I had to piece mine together out of a few different vehicles. I got the NV4500 from a '96 Z71 with all the clutch linkage, but no transfer case. Had to get the transfer case from an 85 Jeep CJ7 and change out the input shaft on it because NP205's with round patterns are just way too hard to find. The flywheel and clutch plate I had to buy brand new. But it's a darn near bullet proof combination now. :D

I think the option of getting that 91 suburban with the diesel in it would be a great idea though. Take everything out of it that you want / need for your own conversion for your dually, and then put all your gasser stuff from the dually into the suburban. Then sell the 'burb. At the very least, you should come out even, if not on top a little.

Get a 2wd NV4500, you can then mate it to a NP205 t-case.
