As fast as your working the truck will be on the road in a few days! I hate this one is going to have to be rushed through. Best of luck to you and the unnecessary deadline!

Thank you, the part I dislike the most if that I need to get her back together without having the LS swap and NV4500 in place. :(:(:(

Just build a taller fence or take the neighbor hunting.

I was actually thinking about the fence too. If it's behind the fence, and the fence is tall enough, what/why/how can the city tell you what to do in your backyard?

I second the latter ;). The S.O.B. called the fire dept. on me today and said I have an illegal paint booth in my back yard. I was undercoating the floor board when they showed up. They liked the truck and the car in the other tent and told me to go about my business. WTF??? These people have nothing better to do than make my builds even tougher than they are to begin with.

The city ordinance inspector told me that he can't make me get rid of my property because it's all under my name. He did say that I live in a "bedroom" community and that a frame off restoration is not legal in such. I would have to do so in a shop. He did how ever say that he admired what I was doing with my car & truck and gave me some time to get them back together before he's to come by for another inspection. I spoke with him today and asked for atleast 2 weeks. He seemed cool about it. It still stinks non the less. I've been told by co-workers that if I plant bamboo by my fence, it will over take the neighbors yard within several months. Pay back is soo nice.

My parents come by today and gave me a helping hand. My dad was really excited, she was his dream truck and owned her for many years before he gave her to me as a graduation present. She was a 7 1/2 year father and son project back in the 80's. She never got finished.

Thats awesome your parents came over to help!

I say you fill up balloons with a weed killer/water solution and give them a toss into the neighbors yard. Makes for a pretty lawn!!! Use the glycol from the hardware store so it wont start killing it for a few days. By then the balloon is gone. If they are too far away to throw them, buy a water balloon sling shot. A few beers and a few friends, man thats some good times in the south!

i deal with this allot too. ive heard the word "bedroom community" too. in this community, that means i have a noise ordinance to deal with as well. I just got out of court with a couple of outstanding community busy-bodies because of the harassment. it was ruled in my favor.

We have a collector clause in the city ordinance that says i can have antique vehicles as long as they are registered or im showing progress on them. we also have a clause that says if it cant be seen by the city or other people (via privacy fence or garage) im not in violation.
we also have a peeping tom ordinance that cost my outstanding neighbors a hefty fine.

i feel for you man, but your right payback is nice.

I like your way of thinking, you know what really bites? The ones who I believe are the culprits have some annoying small yapping dogs. Each one of my neighbors makes some kind of annoying noise at some point, loud parties, yapping dogs, church choir practice, etc. Never once did I even think about calling the cops, even at 3 A.M. when the music was blaring. I wish they would tell me who it is, it would really make this easier. Hardware store, here I come.

It really sucks that these people don't appreciate what we're trying to do here. Maybe the fact that most of my neighbors are ford lovers doesn't help my cause
I thought I would be able to find out who it was when I was accused of having a chop shop. Nope, didn't help. I have an idea, once the inspector gives me the final inspection on the 9th. The yard should be completely clean. He did mention that he couldn't stop me from working on the vehicles, since they are registered and insured. So, once all is cleaned up, I'm thinking of continuing what I'm doing, on a smaller scale, so when the city comes back to climb on my roofs with the cops again. Or if they want come and peek over my 7 foot gate, all they will see is a clean orderly yard. That should really drive the sissy pants crazy cause the city will have nothing on me. The cops might come over as they do now and stop me for the day but they themselves have told me to continue after their shift is over. This way if their called again, it all starts from scratch and I don't get fined.
Sorry to hear about your court issues with these kind of matters, all we're trying to do here is put some beautiful trucks back on the road. And it seems as everyone enjoys them, cause when I would drive mine, I always got a thumbs up. I've even had cops and CHP's pull me over to check her out before.:metal:. Good luck with your venture.

Thanks, I love any of these body style trucks, My next wish list project is a 4x4 Suburban in this body. Hope the wife doesn't kill me, lol. I bought the brackets from blue torch fab years ago, the rotors and calipers are '75 K20 fronts. I like the way they work, the only hassle is the bleeding process.

The rubber kit finally came in after months of being on back order. So in go the windshields.

Picked up the grill at Vet's this Sunday, along with a bunch of brackets and misc pieces.

Note to self, install the windshield while the cab is lower to the ground. working on her at this height is not much fun

I'm running a proportioning valve, the real calipers just didn't want to loose all the air bubbles. I had to end up bleeding the breaks with a vacuum bleeder, old school pumping and finally a pressure bleeder to get the rear mushiness out.

Thanks, I was told that the silver vein looked weird until I brought the frame home. Everyone changed their minds once they saw it. I wanted to run something different, specially since she's all black and lifted. The frame is within view from the sides. I wanted some contrast.

Beautiful truck sir, can you tell me how much lift you have between the springs and shackles? Sorry if I missed that part in the thread, Im guessing it is 6" +/- with 35's?

Hey 6772owner,
She's riding on 6" leafs from Alcan but wouldn't clear my 36" Baja Claws. I then ran a 1" zero offset from ORD in the rear, the front shackles are 1 1/2" from Daystar. She clears the 36"s now, they're a metric tire, can't remember the exact size right now but they equate to a 36". Hope this helps.

6772owner 11-14-2012 03:44 PM

Re: 72 K10 Frame Off

Cool, thanks for the info, I was trying to determine what it would take to clear 40's on this body style... my last truck was just levelled out with 33's, so I have no experience going higher yet.

It sounds like it took roughly 7/7-1/2" of lift for the 36's then, good to know.

Truck looks great BTW!

I'm running a prop valve before the Mico Lock and the rears are a PITA to blead, I've tried gravity, vacuum and pressure bleeding. each makes it a bit better but I haven't gotten them as good as I wish they would be.

Thanks,
If I had to do it again, I would really consider going with a diff color, not only is the body work a PITA but keeping it clean is even worst. My wife really wanted me to restore her and all she asked is that I keep her black. She actually wanted matte black but I couldn't justify all that hard work to go matte. So I told her that the next truck (a '71) will be a matte. Now I need to clean her weekly and she hasn't even hit the streets yet. My neighbors have been crying about any little noise I make. I'm soo sick of this B.S.

1/8 mile??? That's so cool, my wife is on board to do the same for our next property. She realized how important it is for me to work on my toys. So we've been looking outwards to get a bigger lot with hopes of not dealing with these issues anymore. Hope you get to finish your projects soon, the Nova is looking sick, I've always loved the way they look with Rally's.

You'll have to catch up on it. Rallies are gone, currently going with 17x8 and 17x 10.5 mustang wheels I had laying around. Have started cutting the inner 1/4 fenders and scratch building mini tubs. Probably post some pics of my newest creations over the weekend. Check on Steve's
