I gotta look again...I am pretty sure I have 2....a 64 and 65 W/o the hole.

Wow... Finally--the hole can be filled.. Just a small deflector--guessing those little pieces of plastic dried up when the heat was in use--or in hot weather and just turned to dust.. I think I'll probably make a small deflector as well--I wonder how much of a difference the little thing makes in getting heat to your feet!

Glad I could help.
When you make one up post a couple of pictures of it before and after it is installed.
I have a couple of ideas as how to do it but want to see how your idea looks like.
I'm sure there is not a lot of heat deflection for pass. feet but with out it you could be robbing air not going up to the windshield defrosters.
I realise that for some of the members in their climate it would be just for looks but up here it is nice to have a funtional heater system.

Double checked....neither my 64 or 65 have that hole. Intead each has a 1/4 x 2ish inch opening in the bottom of the duct to blow a touch of air on the passnegers feet.

Thanks to 65C20 I knew what I was looking for and I found one in my stash. It has a broken leg but I also found one that was broken off but the two retainer legs were still there. So I can make one out of two. Always check the glovebox as you never know what you might find in there.

That deflector part # 3843950-grp.# 9.783 is in the original price guide (.06) dealer price !!! But it isn't in the original parts book from 1964.
(I'm telling my age) I worked at a chevy dealership as a young kid in the parts department and I remember those little plastic baffles that people would come back after a few weeks and raise hell about them breaking or falling off and us having to keep track of all the customers wanting replacements. So finally the service manager had the new car get ready guys to just remove the baffles to stop the madness !!! These were on the deluxe heater units.
I wish I would have collected up and saved all those baffles.
