Re: POST your 60-66 Panel truck only pictures

I have noticed that all the panels here, the gas filler door, is in the back, mine is in the front, is it because mine is a 1 ton and the other ones are 1/2 or 3/4 ton , just wanted to know

that is correct. the long 3/4 ton and 1 ton panel had the filler door forward of the rear wheel.

as far as I know the short panel and sub was only available as a 1/2 ton.

interesting, I wonder if it was or could have been special ordered?
I looked up the models in my 1962 silver book, and all that is listed for c/20 is chassis cab, long step, long fleet, and stake, the same is listed for K/20, but the stake is omitted.

the same book does have c/10 sub and panel listed, and then a c/30 panel.

I may be mistaken on the year as 62', I believe that is the year he told me the panel was but it may have been a 60' or 61'. I noticed it had those years bug-eye hood on it, but the hood, which was a different color than the rest of the truck, had an Apache 10 emblem on it while the fender, which had the patina of the rest of the panel, had an emblem that said Apache 20. I was trying to finagle the hood away from him unsuccessfully at the time of the conversation.

I'm pretty sure the springs have been cut and the bolts for the torsion bars are setting in the back.

They were an option on 1960-1965 and became standard in the 1966 trucks.

Re: POST your 60-66 Panel truck only pictures

Anyone suggest a selling price for a 1963 half ton panel truck?

It's been sitting in my father's lot in Las Vegas for 30 years. Body and frame are good, almost no rust. Engine and trans useless I'm sure.

Wondering if it's worth trying to sell or if I should donate it to charity.

blown240 07-07-2017 01:06 PM

Re: POST your 60-66 Panel truck only pictures

its for sure worth selling! 63 is the best year, in my opinion. Post some pics if it.

Re: POST your 60-66 Panel truck only pictures

nice truck, i thought i was looking at my sub at first glance.
have you been driving it up until now?
i got my truck 1969 valentines day. drove it daily until 1991, parked it for 25 yrs and now have it about ready to go back on the road.
good luck with your project, what are you going to do to it?

kjp4828 10-09-2017 04:04 PM

Re: POST your 60-66 Panel truck only pictures

Not sure what to do with it. It has 105K, and I destroyed the 292 in the 70s and replaced it with a 1968 250ci.....Outside of the block and the rims, it is a "survivor" C30 2wd extended panel. ( The original rims were "split" and most mechanics refused to deal with them in the 70s and 80s.)

I used it for work until the 90s, then I retired it to snow plow duty in my parking lot..

Llay R. Rac 10-09-2017 04:21 PM

Re: POST your 60-66 Panel truck only pictures

to bad about the 292.
i used my truck as a work truck also and camper until i parked it.
i have about 280k on the original drive train, its old and worn but still keeps running.

Before, during and after. I built 2 of these for The Detroit movie that opened last year. One was a 65, Chevy C30 2wd that's sold, the other is , 66 GMC C30 with a retrofitted NAPCO 4wd, it was originally a Gerstenslager rescue ambulance.

I plan to lower the roof to stock, shorten the back behind wheels and section the middle behind doors about 2ft total. Fix some of the quick panel work we needed to do for the film,Color change etc..
