Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Just picked up my first Chevy truck of this vintage - 1984 K20 5.7 w/ a 350 crate motor. 4 spd manual (1-3 plus L - that's the 4 speed I assume...)
Trailered it home and have started to make my initial diagnoses. At the moment, my priority is to get it drivable so I can use the truck this winter. It runs strong, although it has an oil leak and needs a choke adjustment. It will need a compete brake job (it had no brakes, so in attempting to bleed the system I found the bleeder bolts completely rusted and not serviceable). So that's my first project. Along with changing all the fluids. Here's a pic from the trip home: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-i...0/IMG_1672.JPG |

Here's mine. '74 C20 with dually conversion, mild 383. I do a little of everything with it, towing, drag racing, tractor pulls, and some dune-running.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
I can see drag racing and towing but must be a beast being so heavy in the dunes, looks like a lot of tire though, guess once you get it moving...don't slow down right.:cf:

Yeah, it was a challenge in the real soft stuff. Even with the large tires it makes so much low end torque that it just wants to spin. But damn is it fun. It weighs 4,985lbs with both tanks full of fuel.

Here's my '77 Chebby, standard bed, stepside, 350/th350.
Hope you like it. Got it reasonable, replaced a cracked head with some rebuilt ones from Craigslist. Paid $1k for the broken truck and a hundy for the rebuilt heads that were sitting in someone's garage for a couple of years. I hope you like it. Greg |

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Purchased this sweet old girl 24 hours ago... 90K on the clock, 250 cid, three on the tree manual, and the original spare tire, manuals, etc. Going to desmog the 250, tune it up a bit, maybe add a lumber rack. Leaving her a stock as I can, though a Clifford header and an HEI might not be bad additions.
Not bad for $1900! http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/...ps83d2dd3c.jpg http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/...psf0d65626.jpg |
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Was that truck in a hermetically sealed building ? that seat and dashboard looks cherry .

Trucks was always garaged by the original owner, and has been in a shop for the last several years, too. It has what I believe is the original spare, bias-ply tires with an '84 date-code, and very little damage anywhere.. A small rust spot on the hood lip, and just the tiniest little bubbling along the rear fenders. I'll proabably leave it be for a while, and eventually repair the rust and have it painted, though it'll be the same color. |
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Any engine pics ?

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II

Not bad for $1900 Unreal. Love the interior. Paint wheels and hubcaps and you won't recognize it. |
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
That is one solid and super clean truck for $1,900, congrat's on your good buy.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Thanks everyone. There are some truly gorgeous trucks on this site, and it's good to see some familiar avatars.
As for my new ride: I worked long and hard to scratch up some extra coin. Between a mortgage, student loans payments, two kids and a wife--all on a regional trucker's salary--it took some time to squirrel funds away and even more to search out a good buy. For once, patience paid off. |

My free 79 454/400 c20 camper special.
Owner claimed broken crank, I found there was only one loose bolt holding the flexplate to the torque converter.... Also has shocks between bed and cab? Along with holes that lead to a threaded part for what I assume is camper tie downs never seen that before. I can take pictures |

Yup I have those on the truck. I've had a 77, 78 camper special, and a 85. I've been around quite a few
Something I've never seen. Learn something new everyday! My first 2wd it was free so can't complain. I have duramax for when it gets messy. |

Glad you saved the truck, the shocks are cool, especially the in box type, have seen the outside shocks but never the box to cab shocks, even have a built in slot for the cab to box movement.
