Re: Hooker 73-87 GM truck LS swap system
My big problem is the cooling system. No body makes a radiator other than the old school brass copper or newer plastic tank with aluminum core that will bolt right in. I've had a champion installed in my 90 Jimmy that was to short and said shop used the 73/80 low mount radiator bracket to hold it in. I ordered an LS swap radiator from summit and sent it back as well due to fitment issues. Judging by your pictures you have this cured. Is the radiator available to purchase yet?

Thanx for the advice. This issue has been the biggest pain in my rear end of this entire swap.

Re: Hooker 73-87 GM truck LS swap system
A couple of thoughts here.....first I saw this truck awhile back on the Power Tour at the Holley display I think way before last year this was the truck that got me started looking for my 87 GMC that I have now....it was very nice motivation for me...........will you guys have this on display when the Roadkill Road Show rolls through next Sunday kind of made plans to jump in as they drive from Nashville to Memphis(working Sunday or I would roll up to Bowling Green)........I believe these are pics I took in Knoxville in 2014........

Re: Hooker 73-87 GM truck LS swap system
Ok, I am officially impressed. You work for Holley, it is Sunday afternoon and you are helping one of our own with the brackets he needs. Great service! Though hope you are getting down time for you.
Now I am going to buy something from you guys...maybe the Terminator system for my current build...don't know yet. Probably brackets I need for the build for sure. .......................... he stated it !!! |
Re: Hooker 73-87 GM truck LS swap system
Ok enough talk lets get working on that chevelle stuff just kidding thanks for all the info especially on a Sunday. I'm using the cast iron manifolds on my conversion been on my truck for three years now not driven in the winter to much especially in the rain at all. I was just wondering what would have caused my black ceramic finish to look like this? It was heat cycled when new. Really love the fit but disappointed in finish. http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/...217_140111.jpg

I bought the 20-137 kit. I keep hearing of an install kit I will need. Can you advise what that is (and part number) please?

These are the part numbers of the Holley installation kits; pick the one you need based on the water pump/balancer offset you have on your engine... Corvette/CTSV - 21-1, F-Body/GTO- 21-2 or truck- 21-3 |
Re: Hooker 73-87 GM truck LS swap system
Ok, something I'm curious about on '67-'72 trucks. Bit of a weird question, and I can understand if you don't have the answer.
I made a set of homemade mounts that have similar bolt positions to these: https://holley.com/products/ls_power...parts/12622HKR Then I put the stock engine stands in the six cylinder position so the engine mounted in the same location. I used a set of used 2010 Camaro exhaust manifolds, and had to do a lot of sawing and welding on the stock engine stands to make them clear everything. Would the Hooker manifolds have cleared this? |

how does it not hit the frame? or do we have to move the transmission? we have a 76 K-10 4wd with a stock 70's 350 and a NV-3500 5 speed from a 2007 Silverado. |

Re: Hooker 73-87 GM truck LS swap system
This LS swap competition looks very interesting with a focus on the 73 - 87 C10.
Winner gets to keep the provided LS engine and Holley parts. https://www.holley.com/events/lsfest/engineswap/ |

toddoky, I'm having trouble figuring out which 2.5 exhaust fits my truck. It is a shortbed and I want the side exit exhaust.
Thanks, Barry |
Are you wanting the full 304SS version, or the 409SS system with 304SS mufflers?

Re: Hooker 73-87 GM truck LS swap system
The 409/304 is fine....no plans for bad weather driving.
