Me and my friend went to look at it today. 7 hr round trip.
Was lied to, whole thing was rotted. The bed sides you could move 4 inches side to side. With the top on. All cross members and floor rotted completely.
Doors you had to slam shut from the floors gone. Pass. door wouldnt open/close. Exterior body 1/4 of bondo. Cracks everywere...

Sorry to hear !
The problem with these trucks is that even if you go out west you're not guaranteed a rust free truck.
Sounds like the same scenario I went through when buying my Blazer. It was a 7hr round trip also, and when I got there the truck had a lot more rust than the owner said. I looked it over real good and told him I wasn't interested. A week went by and decided to offer him a much lower amount than what he was asking, because I wanted one of these and there was no second choice for me especially given the fact that I'm in Canada. I definitely have no regrets now for buying it.
Things will work out and you'll get one soon enough.

I bought what I was told was a clean one based on photos but without ever seeing it. The PO told me it needed rockers..... I was ok with rockers . I told him I just wanted a clean tub for an ls swap. So I got the truck and it didn't have a clean panel on it. Both bed sides, rocker boxes, floor in 5 spots, doors, tailgate , core support.
So now the trucks been at a body shop for 6 months, I don't even want to see the bill but it will be cool when I get it back.

Glad i made the trip to see this.
This truck was held together by the top. Needed a comp. tub, and windshield frame. And front fenders. I would have bought a frame and drive line..

While I agree to a point on the yellow, if you could get the black one around 10k. Considerably less work for yourself, has a 502, f.i, 8 lug axles. Those are all big ticket items. Fix the paint, get it running and you have a nice truck you can enjoy. Not a truck you need to strip and replace the floors

Unless you want a original truck when it's done?

Here's one out west here in Oakland, California. Original Owner. CST with Factory AC.

If the body is solid, I'd snag myself if I had 8K laying around.

You know it's a shame that these trucks have to rust, but it's really a shame that people are not honest when selling them. A guy that allows you to make a 7 hour drive to look at a truck he's lied to you about, deserves to drive a toyota for the rest of his life. Well truckman5000, it stinks you're having a hard time finding what you're looking for, but hang in there, you'll find one. But get ready to travel. I live in north texas and found my Jimmy in Albuquerque New Mexico. After only looking at pictures of it and talking to the owner, I bought a one way plane ticket and flew 650 miles out there....and then got to drive my GMC Jimmy 10 hours to get home. A friggin' BLAST! First time I stopped for gas, a guy offered to buy it from me. Just remember you're looking at the BEST trucks on the planet, so take your time and have fun with it. And also, don't pay stupid money. There are still good trucks out there at fair prices.

Hey gm man thanks for the good advice I've been looking for a blazer myself it's tough I made a nine hour round trip with the kids a 10 year old and a 7 month old only to find out the blazer needed alot of work it could have been saved but the guy wanted way too much imo.I've been searching craigslist like crazy missed out on a couple have to take a break so not to make a bad decision. Again thanks to everyone for all the great help on here.
