Just ordered motor mounts today.

CPP mounts
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/c...80NBoCo4Pw_wcB

Dirty Dingo Sliders
http://www.dirtydingo.com/shop/produ...oducts_id=1443

Looking forward to getting these so the engine can be placed in the engine bay and we can make plans for the rest of the parts that are needed. Next up to order is a new fuel tank, then onto a wiring harness for the engine.

Progress is progress. I like the wheels. You probably don't know for sure if everything is going to work until you get a tire mounted but it looks like you won't have any clearance problems....

Thanks, yeah just trying to pick away at it one piece at a time. I really want the Detroit Steel 20-22's but these are what the budget allowed right now. I think I'm going to go 17x9's in the rear. I've been looking for used tires in my area to test fit but have yet to find one close enough.

Re: My new project the White Whale.

Today I got the new wheels and used tires test fit on the truck. Wheels are 17x8 and tires are 245-45-17. They seem to fit well and still have plenty of room to lower the truck more.

After dealing with other wheel companies through the years I try to use detroit steel as much as possible. They are the best company who get that customer service comes first. I understand the budget thing too. But man do look good on our burbs.

They definitely looks great on these trucks but this year I can't come up with the funds. I've purchased two wheels so far I'm planning on buying five. That will cost me roughly $430 for all five. It would of been more than twice that for wheels alone and tires are much more expensive in 20's or 22's. Hopefully next year or the year after I'll be able to grab a set.

In the mean time I like these wheels and they should look good with the theme I'm going for.

Re: My new project the White Whale.

Got some more work done on the truck tonight and last night. I good friend of mine helped me build a frame to mount the 04 seat cushions on the brackets from the 67 rear seats and a custom frame that we made. Looking forward to test fit it in the truck tomorrow.

I'm going to paint the whole frame bracket black once I double check to make sure it all fits first.

Looks good, are you using front buckets as well?

Thank you. Yea front buckets from the 04 sub as well

Re: My new project the White Whale.

Got the rear seat test fit today in the truck. The seat fits great and bolts right into the stock seat bracket mounting holes. Now there is plenty of room between the front bucket seats and the rear bench. Also test fit one of the wheels in the spare tire location and it fits pretty good. Picked up a few more tires and I'm going to order the rest of the wheels this week as well.

Nice work on the seat brackets! Did you get the front console to agree with the dash? Keep up the good work.

Thank man. No I will not be using the middle console from the 04 Suburban. I plan on making my own center console.

I have the seat if you ever wanted to use that to mock up some new brackets with the holes in the seat. We aren't to far apart. The brackets are pretty simple and could easily be duplicated.

Looks like you have plenty of leg room in the second row. Im sure that after fabing up all of this rust repair making brackets for my second row bucket seats will be easy. Hopefully Ill be driving it when the weather gets warmer. Lots of work still left to do and no time to do it

See you have a running vehicle that is rusty. I have a non rusty vehicle that has no motor or trans. Lets see who will be done first.

Re: My new project the White Whale.

Started cutting up some MDF for the center console over the weekend.

I'm going to use the stock 04 Suburban cup holder and this will also hold a newer single din radio, compartment for storage and an armrest.

http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...psq9en8btw.jpg

http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...psjmwjqbwn.jpg

I need to grab some more MDF to finish the other pieces.

Thanks Rob. I'm trying to get what I can now before it leaves to get the engine installed.

Made a little more progress on the center console last night.

Test fit the console at lunchtime for the first time. Now it's time to go grab a radio/ cd player and make sure that all fits before I do anymore.

Re: My new project the White Whale.

Worked on the center console a little bit yesterday and made a little more progress. The radio just barely fit in the hole that I made and just misses the heater box by an inch or so. Now I just need to find a radio delete pate for the dash and remove the stock radio.

Also got the rest of the wheels in the other day. I now have all five matching wheels and tires. Just need to have the tires mounted tomorrow.

Saturday we will be bringing the truck to my buddies shop to test fit the motor, exhaust manifolds and oil pan, hopefully everything fits and we can start working on the cross member and getting the old fuel tank out.

Re: My new project the White Whale.

I'm slowly making progress on the center console. Waiting for some warm weather so I can spread some bondo filler to take care of my imperfections. Also waiting for a friend of mine to cut me a plate for the cup holders. I also cut the piece for the arm rest lid.

http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps8runprxi.jpg

Hopefully the truck will go to my buddies shop this weekend and then we can get the motor test fit. Unfortunately last weekend he got tied up.

Re: My new project the White Whale.

Well the truck is finally at my buddies shop waiting to get the 5.3 motor test fit. Once we can determine if the factory oil pan and exhaust manifolds will work then we can make a plan to get the motor in and get going on the install. Can't wait to get this thing running.

Re: My new project the White Whale.

Here are a few pics from this past weekend when we moved the Suburban from my garage to my buddies shop. The last pic if of the new cup holder mount that another friend is making for me. I'm going to have some 3" stainless exhaust piping welded to the bottom then cap it off and use that as the two cup holders. Then I'm going to brush the stainless steel to give is a rougher look.

Thanks, I really like the wheels as well. I wish I could of gone bigger but this is what the budgets allowed right now.

I'm not sure if the truck is lowered or not. It looks pretty low to me and it doesn't have any coils in the rear. The front is what looks lower really and the engine isn't even in yet.

Once we can get it up on a lift we can check it out more to see what type of components are already in the truck.

Not much progress lately. The truck is at my buddies shop, he did a test fit on the motor last week or the week before and verified that the oil pan fit but still needed to make some adjustments to try and get the exhaust manifolds to fit without cutting anything. He said this weekend he will be back at it. Still waiting on the engine wiring harness and ecm to get back from Modern Vintage Systems. I'm hoping they ship out the wiring harness this week or the latest next week. I also need to order a fuel tank soon.

Doing a little work on the center console as well. That should be going to get wrapped in vinyl over the next week or two as well.

So I'm making a Little progress but it's been very slow lately.

How about you, any progress lately?

Been making headway, I really need to start a build thread. Made new piece of plywood for the back and painted. Prepped and POR 15 rear section of frame, installed c notches, lowering springs, shocks/ relocation brackets, broke bolt in rear end and had to drill out. Picked up a new one and am hoping to install bolt and rear cover this weekend and finally install plywood

Re: My new project the White Whale.

Made a little more progress lately on the truck. I've been working on the center console and I think I've done my last layer on bondo/ filler. I just need to sand it down a little more, then I can work on the top compartment lid. After that it just need to be wrapped in black vinyl.

I got word from my buddy that the motor is in and everything will fit once he is done with it. He said there was plenty of clearance for the oil pan and that he will need to modify both exhaust manifolds to make them fit. He also needs to remove some of the bolts that hold the exhaust manifolds on since they are stuck in there now.

Re: My new project the White Whale.

Just got the center console 90% done yesterday. I gave it to my neighbor to upholster. We are going with black vinyl and redish/ orange exposed thread. I painted the MDF with Killz primer just to give it a little protection from moisture.
