Re: My 67 build
That paint looks GREAT! Attention to detail on that VIN plate as well. Can't wait to see the finished truck.

Time to put a little time in. Hope to have a rolling by chassis by tonight. Brakes, rear end, axles, and tires/wheels on the truck.

Re: My 67 build
The paint looks nice. Good luck getting it rolling

I'm going to post this in the classifieds but for you guys following my build know that these early classic drop spindles wouldn't work with my wilwood brakes. I never mounted them so they are brand spankin new. They are 2.5" drop. Let me know if your interested. Thanks JT

Rear end is done along with the rear brakes. We plan on putting the cab on this afternoon and taking the bed off to get ready for the paint booth.

Re: My 67 build
Interested in seeing how the dash turns out. I've never been able to get away from the classic look but I really enjoy seeing different approaches.
|
Re: My 67 build
Quick question. Are these helper springs in the rear worth keeping? I'm not going to have anything in the bed or towing anything. One of them is hitting harder on the frame and it has the rear of the truck slightly cocked to one side. Thanks JT

Re: My 67 build
The frame is super dusty so this weekend I'm going to pressure wash it and get it back to looking good again.

She's headed to my uncles restoration business to be finished up there. Just way to much going in over at my dads place to take a chance on it getting messed up somehow. Tons of room at my uncles.

Today was a pretty productive day on the c10. We got it pressure washed because I was caked with dust from the body shop. I sandblasted a lot on some restorable parts. Ive had this cluster for several months and figured I'd set it in the dash real quick just to get an idea on what it's going to look like. We are going to head to national parts depot tomorrow to buy several parts ( tailgate, rear view mirror, a few harnesses, and door stops). Also here is one of my uncles future projects which is his shop truck.

Dad and I put in a few hours tonight on the C10. We got the steering column in place along with the gauge cluster. We also put in 2 new switches ( wiper and light). We couldn't find the lower support brace for the steering column so it's just resting on a strap in the picture. We also got the brake pedal in place. I put the dome light in and door bumper stops.

Re: My 67 build
JT,
Just started following your build and it looks awesome. I can't wait to see more! Keep up the great work and it's awesome to see three generations working on it. |
Re: My 67 build
Thanks Lorne. Yea man it fun to see it come together and I enjoy spending time with my dad and son as well.

Today was a dang hot one but we got a few things done. We got the brake booster out of a 2014 camaro mounted. It took a little modification to get it to line up with the brake pedal and such. All in all I think it turned out pretty jam up. I also got the 21 gal gas tank mounted and it went in easy as pie.

We got started on the ac system. It took a lot of planning so what you see is about 7 hrs of work. We also got the steering linkage in. We also put some finishing touches on the steering column and brake booster.

It's been a few weeks since I've posted so here ya go. We finally finished the brakes today. We've mounted the proportioning valve and ran all stainless brakes lines. We also put together a fuel pump "inside the tank" and ran the fuel lines. I ended going to a hydraulic machine shop to make me some quick connect flex hoses. So the gas tank is finished no with the fuel pump attatched to the sending unit. Getting the fuel pump figured out was a chore because the ls3 requires a constant 58 psi. I did some cutting today to help out with the exhaust routing and hopefully the 3" exhaust. I also bolted on the cut out brackets. The hood came in yesterday so that's exciting as well. I'm glad I've got some professionals on my side helping out on the wiring because it looks super confusing to me as you can see in the picture. If everything goes as planned we hope to crank it up in about 2-3 weeks.
