The black-on-black-on-black is def a menacing look and works well there. I'm a big fan of the 90s hub caps, I feel like they are what should have been available in the 70s.

I wouldn't say it's not cool. It's just a matter of finding some.

It does seem like tall 16" tires are relatively hard to come by, I suppose that's what put me over the edge to grab some H2 wheels. Slots are the bomb for sure and it's a shame they're only available as a 17x10 now or else I probably would have gone with them instead.

Awesome. The white letters just look sporty to me. I'm a sucker for it.

The last 16.5's that I just bought were easy peasy. Not so much before. I looked at some of the new slots back in the day and they just didn't look the same to me so I went for some old ones. It took me about a year to finally put a set together.

I saw a set at Pomona. But I didn't ask about them because all I had there was my BMW and I didn't think that they'd fit in it.

But the swap meet was winding down. I was leaving and passed by them again and had to ask. The guy was packing and when I asked how much? He said "just take them, I don't want to load them'.

So now I have a dilemma. This guy is leaving and I have to get my car over there and figure out how to squeeze these wheels and tires in it. My car is far away, and the place is crowded. What the heck. You can't fail if you don't try. Right?

I managed to get in through heavy traffic and load them in my car. I couldn't close the trunk but I got them in and I only lived a mile away but I was glad nothing fell out because it was sketchy.

What I didn't realize (because I didn't check) was that these tires were something like 33's. They were too big for my stock C/20. If my truck was lifted, yes but it isn't. So no. No bueno. :smoke:

So I put them on Ebay and got $200 for them. The guy paid me and never picked them up. I tried to get ahold of him. No dice. This guy was ducking me and he had already paid.

So I just gave the guy his money back and put them on Ebay again and got $250 for them.

I guess that's why I've held onto my old slots so long. I went through a lot of trouble to get them.

They did a great job on remaking these wheels and NOT putting fake rivets and other bs on them ( I hear ya Tim)

Hey Bones! How did the truck look with these US Mags slots on it? Curious how the (-25) offset worked out and what options you had for centercaps. Would love to see some pics. Thanks!

Nice find. I need to get some slots for my '72 K2500. It had 16.5s for a while, among others, 16.5 x 9.75 steelies, 16.5 x 8.25 Turbines, 16 x 7 Accurides, 16.5 x 9.75 slots, and 16 x 8 steelies

I might have been the first to get tired of wagon wheels and maybe the first to realize they are actually right for these trucks...once you no longer saw them anymore. I wanted the look of a 4wd done in the '70s for my survivor '72 K/20. They look great on a deluxe 2-tone truck

Tim,
thanks man, now you've got me more confused than normal. i've got a set of 16 x 8 white spokes, a set of 16.5 x 8.25 stockers and a set of 16 x 7 E-350 wheels and trying to decide on which ones to put on my K20 suburban. i have a set of 285s for the 16s but i have perfect original hub caps for the stockers that already have old mud tires on them. decisions decisions .:fb::drama::dohh:

A couple of options:

1. Factory 16.5x8.25 Steel rims with factory chrome hub caps

2. GMT800 8 lug PY0's with factory chrome hub caps on the front. Still need to pick up the spacer for the rear to run those hub caps

Along the lines of special-k's old truck here is my first ever vehicle. My first 72, with 16.5x10 turbines and 38" Ground Hawgs. My dearly missed dad is in the picture. Truck rode like a tank with "soft ride" lift . I still loved the truck at the time. Will have to wait and see my shortbed build on the 17x10 slots with 37's.

These 16” wheels came on my 72 K20 when I bought it, I didn’t like them at first but I kind of like them now as they are in good shape for old wheels.

Here's a truck I got a little while ago and am planning to keep the original paint, fix the rust, lift it more and make it look like an early 90s built truck.
