Is there a good story or history on where & why this truck was stored for 50 years? Maybe some details on the hunt to buy it after you found out about it.

It’s doesn’t have a really detailed story, but here’s the story I got. Owner number 1 bought it but soon after had to sell it because of a failing business he owned. Owner number 2 used it to go hunting only a few times then parked it inside. Not sure why he never used it. Owner number 3 I’m guessing bought it and resold it to the man I bought it from. Then man I bought it from bought it in 1999 and just stored it in a climate controlled garage. He drove it less than 1500 miles.

Joe, most of the words to describe such a truck have been used and rightly so but Damn man, that is just an absolutely phenomenal find! Never have I seen an original mileage truck of that caliber before. That is a treasure for sure, congrats on such a find. :chevy:

Noted this on many factory photos, and this one also, original engine color looks more reddish than orangish.

I actually got word of it off a Facebook post about originally. A guy posted a few pictures of this truck in the owners garage. I private messaged the guy and asked if this was for sale. This was 3 years ago. The owner never listed it for sale. I finally got the guy to give me the owners contact info. So I called, he said he was thinking about selling it. In 3 days I was on a plane to see the truck. The owner was a very talkative, but extremely nice man. We visited for several hours and I said I want the truck when you decide on a price. We became friends over the next 2 1/2 years. Lots of phone calls, talking about nothing more than life and the weather. Then in November of 2020 he called and said he was ready to sell and gave me a price. I agreed, and flew out again to see him and the truck. It took him until 3 weeks ago to finally let me pay him and come pick it up. I really wanted a picture of him and I with the truck. So I rented an enclosed trailer and hit the road.

Another item that is consistent with original photos is the gray lock ring on white wheel. Hope you keep them, they look great!

Beautiful truck, CONGRATS! My 71' Monte Carlo was bought new at Larry Barnes also. Maybe they were parked by each other on the lot.

The original lock ring wheels will definitely stay on the truck. It’s part of the look. The wheels were repainted in 1999, but they did an excellent job of correctly painting the wheels and the silver rings. Here the original spare with the original paint. I cleaned it yesterday and it will go back under the truck today.
