Looks like I found me a blaster:metal: super nice people, and excellent work.... And your friend is right...plastic is the only way to go. it leaves a fine etch in the metal. I do need to clean up some seam sealer, tar stuff under the dash, and some weatherstrip adhesive, but other than those it should just be a wipe it down and primer...... |
Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build

I can not think of one thing I would rather see in the "bare" more than a freshly media blasted 4-5-6 Chevy cab...okay maybe one thing, but what a sight to behold. Congrats on the milestone and thanks for sharing the pix.

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
Is that flash rust or primer left? Make sure you treat the metal before you prime it or you will have problems several years down the road.

I'm so fascinated how the plastic leaves the metal, it makes the metal sparkle in the sun:metal: Attachment 432900 Attachment 432901 Attachment 432902 Attachment 432903 Attachment 432904 |

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
Brown dust could be oxidized metal. Dupont has a bare metal conditioner, wipe it on, wash it off with water, dry the metal and immediately epoxy prime. Etch prime only lets the primer adhere, does not keep the metal from rusting.

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
Hmmm, cool thanks for the info....guess I need to go to a paint supply. anyone you recommend?
