Welcome aboard! Looks like a good truck to start with, & cool that you're getting the family involved. What are the plans for it?

Thanks...working on getting her more road worthy first...already replaced the tires, air filter, ignition switch, and headlights. I'm going to tune her up, she has a small block 350 now, and someone installed an automatic transmission (bummer!). Looks like one of the previous owners started a restoration and either got bored or ran out of money. Lots of the wiring has been torn up so I'm trying to decide if I want to troubleshoot what is there or just replace with a new harness. Needs some body work all the way around, but the frame is straight and it runs good! Initial plans are replace the steering wheel (with an original 63 one I found locally), parking brake handle, seat belts, get the headlights working, then try to sort out the gauges. I want her to be pretty enough to show off, but not so pretty I'm afraid to haul a load of dirt! We call her Orange Crush!

No worries...I wasn't clear. :(

The new gray and black '65 fleetside is a 350 with a TH400 trans, ps, pb, front disc, rear drum, but it's a little more polished (way more chrome), and geared more for the highway. This just got shipped in from Arakansas - supposedly a father son project that lost it's funding, so I picked it up, and am adding the necessary bits. A bit easier to get everyone in to go get ice cream with this one. Still chasing out a few bugs from the seemingly hasty assembly process. Looks to be a fun ride, though.

Cheers

I almost bought your gray one when it was on eBay. He asked me to bid it up for him in exchange for giving me a picture of the ID number...seemed sketchy so I backed off. Glad that it worked out for you though. I love the color.

Cool! Usually always plenty of things to fix or improve upon on projects, but sounds like you've already got a good start on it. I like the idea of keeping it usable as well. And I'd say that's for sure a fitting name for her. :metal:
