Thanks Ryan.
Tada, it’s White! Right out of the booth, it's just amazing how nice their paint is, beauty. |
Re: 67 Camaro Build
Looks great! I can't wait to see it going together.

Re: 67 Camaro Build
Awsome!!!! Congrats Brett :)
This is a major milestone for sure ...and you know I'm partial to that color lol :) https://photos.imageevent.com/hvclas...15_172628.jpeg |
Re: 67 Camaro Build
What a fantastic thread and beautiful car! So glad I stumbled into the "Alternate Tinkerings" area!

I appreciate the kind words, thank you guys. :metal:
I’m with you 69cam, can't wait to start the final assembly! Kevin your vert looks great! You know I have got to be partial to white also, the last 3 projects we’ve had painted and the last 2 dailies purchased have all been white. Hey Scott very nice of you to say, some talented folks are doing cool stuff in this section. Back at Perk’s the doors and spoiler trunk lid are getting some final sanding. Meanwhile, I’m starting to prep the diff for paint. I've removed the Lokar emergency brake cables that came from Moser. My thoughts are I’m going to try and run the factory setup instead, either way the cables need to be out of the way for paint. |

The new control arms come powder coated and preassembled, easy peasy. And yes, I went with new springs, and am waiting for them to arrive. So, now would be a great time to mockup the brake lines on the shortened diff. |
Re: 67 Camaro Build
That looks so nice! Now for the nerve racking part to not scratch it.

Thanks Ryan, that’s so true.
The brake distribution block didn’t fit its bracket but that was an easy fix. Welded on some brake line tabs and reformed the lines a little bit without shortening them. Once satisfied I pulled this stuff back off for paint. Yes, the last shot is the rear end showing you its bottom! :baa: |
Re: 67 Camaro Build
Lots of extremely nice work going on here..I'm really liking all the white..!!

Thank you Greg, that's some impressive hub work you have going on. The last pic I saw with the sticker mockup looks great!
And paint, nothing special just a few coats of Rustoleum Canyon Satin Black. Direct to metal in a spray can, quick and easy, I like it. |

Springs arrived and reassembly of the subframe was underway. I wanted to see if I could leave it on the trailer which I did initially. This threaded rod, finger-style spring compressor does a good job and is easy on the powder-coated finishes. It required that I enlarge the upper shock mount opening slightly for the threaded rod to fit. Also, the shorter finger makes it easy to clock and arch the spring a little bit to aid with the installation.

I made it this far but decided it would be too much hassle to continue on the little trailer. The rear diff is almost ready to go back under the car.

Some steering components were next with the center link, new pitman and idler arm, as well as a new fast ratio manual box. :ito:

We’ve got paint on the doors and the spoiler trunk lid. The shell is off the rotisserie and will get covered up for a couple more weeks to let it cure some more. It is tail heavy on the 2-post lift but there are safety straps on the front in case the jack under the trunk floor gets bumped.

Re: 67 Camaro Build
These pics are awsome, ...and you KNOW we're waiting to see the body back on it's wheels :) (as I am SURE you are ;)

Thanks Kevin, I know and we are so close to having a roller again.
Swapped out the short lug studs on these new rotors to match the long ones we have in the rear axles. Did a quick confirm that the (preinstalled) races in the new hubs match the supplied ones with the bearings. Yep, both inner and outer are same-o no need to swap both are new. |
Re: 67 Camaro Build

I found that the original factory steering arm bolts are just too short. The difference is the new thicker disc brake caliper brackets compared to the old drum backing plates. After trying to use the supplied (crap) hardware that couldn’t hold the torque spec. I had to break out my angry eyes and an impact gun to yang those bolts back apart!

Re: 67 Camaro Build
Better to have that crap strip than break while driving. CPP brake conversion ?

Re: 67 Camaro Build

Exactly, the bolts did get replaced later with new Grade 8 hardware. It’s an Inline Tube manual disc brake conversion kit, most of it looks pretty good but time will tell.
It's getting close to go time for this stuff to be mated with the car again. So I threw the rotors on with the old (too short) steering bolts and then took a day off to sit in the park with Mrs. 7dee2 and our K30. This was one of the first times the K30 was seen by its future new owner. |
Re: 67 Camaro Build
Surprised to see crap bolts in an Inline kit, but I guess, since most everything we buy comes form China, it shouldn't be a shock.
I don't recall right off-hand, but aren't the original steering arm bolts fine thread too, for more contact area ? |

You’re right on both accounts, also one bolt on each side (front position) is an odd length to clear the sway bar links, which was my observation.
So, here’s a Camaro lesson learned, don’t wait this long to install the sway bar. With some doing I did get it, but ended up having to touch up a little. Not 100% sure but the old 6-cyl subframe showed no signs of ever having a sway bar installed. I had to tap the existing mounting holes in the frame. I don't like the supplied shorter links, and will probably end up changing the sway bar links out with a longer factory style that will put the bar more level towards the ends. This stuff in the pics is what came with the bar. |
Re: 67 Camaro Build
Once the weight of the car is compressing the suspension, the bar ends should be level.
