I leave for a few weeks and come back, the first page I look at (this one) has talk of parting out a truck. My heart sunk for a second there at the thought of you parting Havoc out! The cake looks great though! Have you been able to pull the truck out of storage yet?

LOL, there would be no way I would want to part HAVOC out, if it came down to it and I was strapped for cash, then the drivetrain would go, not the truck, lol. The cake was great!!!! she did a wonderful job. As for getting HAVOC out, not yet, I am waiting on a few things to show up yet, had to part a little bit of her out over winter, but no worries, we upgraded with the bartering system from ppl. Gotta love that!!!

Re: The Project Havoc....

alright mr. paint expert! i got some questions for you about prepping my cab. what do you recommend to take of around 6 layers of paint. i dont want to get it blasted and have the mess of have media falling out of all the cracks now that i got all of the metal work done. i also dont want to use stripper cause i think it will take a lot of it due to the amount of paint and cost of chemicals.
i had started to d/a it and just wanted to see what you would recommend as far as grits. is it best to work up to a finer or just cut it down with a lower grit and then use a finer to finish. thanks in advance

watahyahknow 04-08-2010 09:35 PM

Re: The Project Havoc....

i still would suggest paintstripper but the thicker paste like kind so you can leave it on longer and then use a steamwasher to get the most of it off keeping the jet as flat along the surface as you can , that way it whont get in yore face the paint should come off in sheets ,,,, a full face screen would be adviceable doing this
turn it up as hot as you can/dare and put the car in the full sun after you removed the paste so it practicly dries immediately
take a lot of care getting any resideu of the metal and out of the nooks and crannies or the new paint will be ruined in no time a scotchpad should be good enough for preppung the metal before paint

Well, it has been quite awhile since an update on Havoc, I have currently put roughly 900 miles on her now, she runs like a top, still needs a tuning. A/F gauge going in next week. However I have found some downsides, I do loose my power steering when cranking on her hard!! Time for a power steering cooler, she was bubbling to beat sunday. Got the exhaust tips installed, THANK YOU SWEETY, THEY ARE GREAT!! Have a driveline vibration, small, found it now to correct it. Installed a new ignition system in her, MSD pro billet, new wires, 6-al. Love it and hate it, runs better, and starts better and a smoother idle now, which I hate, Liked the lope better. Got a bunch of new parts to put in her, after a lot of bartering with ppl and working my hiney off. The engine has 3 oil leaks, so whe will have to come out, transmission whines like there is no tomorrow, the planetaries are totally shot in it, wow, they are loud at 60mph. So I got a new 4l60e from a friend, it has a 2400 stall, full shift kit, better clutches..... and even comes with the TCI controller. Oh yeah!!!!! to be installed whenever the other one blows up. One night Ifrom a standing point to just shy of the quarter mile, I was approaching 110mph, we will see what she runs yet then.

Anyways on to some pics.
