Yes, have been open for 3.5 weeks and average about 55 cars per week. I have two incredible technicians, each with 35 years experience and a service manager with 32 years, all with great attitudes. Driveability, diagnostics, programming...we have it all covered. Every box I opened with a new tool was like Christmas and I still don't know how to use half of it LOL. We are having a great time and quickly meeting goals. This has been over 3 years in the making.
The funny thing about having a fully-equipped shop is that after spending 70 hours there it is nearly impossible to find time and energy to work on your own stuff. I did get my '71 on the rack for a suspension rebuild, it took 2 weeks to find one single hour to do the tear down. But right now we're working Saturdays...which is temporary so when that's over I'll have more time to play. It's going to be awesome to just roll it a couple of bays over to my alignment rack. When Popeye gets assembled, I will bring it up to do the wiring and detail work. |
Re: Project "Popeye"
And what kind of shop rates/hr. in Mo.?
|
Re: Project "Popeye"
$98/hr and going up soon. It's high-average but competitive.
I should mention, this venture is pretty much the entire reason that Popeye is not done yet. |

Looks like the new digs have plenty of room for Popeye. Good to hear from you again, with the new business I'm sure it doesn't leave you a lot of time for the site....Jim
