Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Very nice work on everything! Good choice upgrading to disk brake BTW.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
When you installed the metric speedo, did you get the numbers on the lens custom done, or are they available somewhere?

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Love that you're keeping all the original touches to it. Great work.

I bought it off a member that had it on a 68 C20 with leaf springs but I am unsure what it originally came off of. Here are all the pictures I have of it. I recently found out it is from an square body dual rear tire 1 ton truck.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I sold it on ebay. I tried to sell it on here for 3.5 months and nobody wanted it. After I sold it on ebay quite a few members PMed me about it. Funny how that happens sometimes

Well I bought my tires for the stock rims I'm going to have for show with my full Wheel covers. There are 5 new bias ply 855-15 b/f tires. One even for the spare. Just like original in the factory photos.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Man do I love a tidy full restoration build. Great work so far and that steering wheel is off the hook!

I do like the wheel to. One of my personal favorite pieces. I didn't like the way the brake pedal looked cause the circle around the disc brake plate wasn't crisp so I purchased a 1 1/2" chassis punch and that worked much nicer and a cleaner cut. I also cut the center bar and Tucked it under the plate to clean it up as well.

I have been thinking what my options are once I do my disc brake swap. The wheels will stick out 3" wider in the front (1.5" on each side) and I don't like that look and I'm keeping the stock gm 15 x 6 wheels. I did some research. You can reverse the centers on the wheels to give you a deeper frontspace. The wheels now have a 3.5" backspace so I found out if you reverse the centers the minimum backspacing you can have is 2" so that is perfect making the wheels stick out 1.5" more than they do now. Perfect. I won't use wheel spacers on this build. You will never know the rears are deeper with the full Wheel covers on. Pictures just show what I'm trying to say. Not my exact wheels.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
brake pedal turned out great, nice work.

Thank you. That reversing may still not work as I don't have a good place to put the valve stem where it will stick out of the wheel cover. It will be way inside the rim on the bevel..... Here is the answer for that Maby...

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I machined my billet smoothies to have the valve stem on the inside to avoid the constant heat attack from the beating sun at car shows, it's a pain occasionally but a nicely set bead will take care of any constant checking

Tailgate lock. Just playin. Had a gate stolen once and ever since I have been thinking about doing this. Not sure about this. Didn't want to break up the lines on the gate so it had to be hidden by the moulding. It keyed to match my 67 already if I use it.

Installed.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
If you could flush mount it no one would even know.
|
Re: 67 GMC super custom build
If they would have casted the moulding solid instead of hollow that could have been done. I got it as absolutely low as I could. The other option I had was to put a door lock overtop of the handle but that would disturb the clean lines of the rear of the truck. .
