Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet
thanx man :metal::metal:
after getting the lawn mowed i was pretty lazy but i did manage to get the driveshaft put in. hopefully i will have a lil more time next weekend to get some stuff done i ended up not being able to use that billet cpp carrier bearing i bought cause they no longer make a midship shaft that will fit that bearing and a 3" tube. so i ended up going with a bigger carrier bearing.. later on i will prolly upgrade the rear section to a bigger tube to match the front but this will get me going for now. luckly i made my trailing arms 1 inch longer a while back or it would have been a big pain to use the style carrier. anyway here are some pics of the driveshaft and the carrier bearing mount i made. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7408/9...2beeb043_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7352/9...0c388475_b.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3687/9...026203ee_b.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3700/9...4b82ec84_b.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5450/9...09b4c450_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7409/9...c9735d19_b.jpg |
Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet
awesome work. I enjoy following this build.

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet
Looking good man! Where do I get one ?

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet
Thanx guys. The rear section i got from classic performance products. The front section was a universal drive shaft kit from summit racing. But i had to order a midship shaf, yoke and bigger carrier bearing. I had inland truck parts (local shop) order that stuff for me and had them cut it to length, weld and balance it all. I wish i would would have known about them in the first place i would have just had them order everything i needed and make it all. i didnt realize that cpp slipshaft was gonna be so small. I will upgrade that later. O well i will know next time

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet
They looked great for a couple months but they turned kinda tanish color. They say u cant paint new tires without them turning brown because of the oil. I tried cleaning them with bleach. Degreaser and thrn soapy water but i guess it didnt help. Im gonna try to paint over them again and see how it does

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet
cool work dude
|
Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet
truck is looking cool. i love it when you get to this stage. everything you do makes a big difference and calls for a beer and a gaze.
did you try using a sealer on the tires first? |
Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet
thanx guys!!! ya clem im getting pretty excited.. im soo close now :metal::metal::metal::metal:
as far as the tires goes i didnt use any sealer but i prolly should have. im gonna redo them after i get it running. been knocking some stuff out. finishing up some stuff i should have had done along time ago. i got my new windshield finally http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5485/9...4fa7e1e2_b.jpg finally made the top to my battery box http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7415/9...32e4f374_b.jpg got a tag frame with 3rd brake light and tag light. also a really sweet tag for when i show my truck http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7281/9...22487729_b.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3677/9...b20ef545_b.jpg installed new tailight lenses and buckets. all the lights on the rear and now wired up to. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5537/9...42cf95fd_b.jpg new polished stainless strips for the bed floor.. gonna start on that in a few weeks.. still gotta get some wood http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5457/9...08ae854d_b.jpg still pretty pumped that i got a windshield finally http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5536/9...36503be8_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7300/9...7cf1076f_b.jpg finally got around to finishing up my signal/marker lights. i moved it from the spot i had originally planed on putting it.. btw the wire on the left is for the headlights and fan. the wires on the right are the signal lights http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5333/9...ac92ff7e_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7352/9...0cb40d87_b.jpg here is a pic of me hoping that i know what im doing.. hahaha http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5520/9...468e9d9c_b.jpg got everything under the dash wired up except the column. made a stainless box to put the ignition and headlight switches in..its not done yet.. im gonna paint it black then once i finally get around to doing my dash polished dash extension piece the box wont be noticeable. also it looks like it would get it on the way but i got plenty of knee room still http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7371/9...5aeedaa1_b.jpg all i have to do to take it for a test drive is make all my ground cables. run the battery cables and a few small wires to the starter. then bleed my brake system. then i think ill be ready to roll :metal::metal::metal::metal::metal::metal::metal::metal::metal::metal::metal::metal::metal::metal: |
Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet
Some cool updates dude!
How well do your hood hinges work with the gas shocks? I was gonna do something like that...How did I miss it on your thread? Very sweet looking BTW! |
Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet
thanx man!!! the shocks work pretty good to hold it up but dont help much to lift it up like the original springs.
|
Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet
How is you horn ring in such great shape? Repo or rechromed? The horn button looks different than my 66 horn button but my horn ring is the same. I would love some details. Thanks

Dang you beat me to it...I want to put a quick connect on my firewall to hood wires so if/when I have to take the hood off, they wont hang me up.
