All I did was get a curtain up after going to two different stores twice each to get all the right things for the project. I now can walk into the garage and put in my five minutes a day without spending time getting ready. WHOOO HOOOOO!:metal:

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2
At least you have your project in the garage where you can work in it even in tight quarters.
Good idea on the curtain, I've known a couple of guys who ruined the paint on the finished car because it got hit with the results of grinding on the project vehicle. If it snows much more I'll be able to build a shop out of snow and work inside it. |

Since my cab is 5" longer, I needed some 6 "longer
trim pieces for the cab floor to door rubber strip. I copied the old one, but made it from brushed stainless. I trimmed them to length, and will finish the cutout with an end mill. I made a simple countersink die and used it in the arbor press. |

The seats are out of a 2008 buick rendevous, second row. The centre folds down for arm rest plus a tims holder.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2
Tim's holder. Ha! How'd ya mount them? They look great in there.

57 chevyman- regarding your damaged paint- speaking as an insurance professional, I would suggest you go thru your own insurance company. You will initially have to pay your deductible, but you will probably have more control in choosing where you want to get it fixed. Explain the custom paint situation to your claim representative- he may be more than glad to have you handle where it goes for repairs under the circumstances. Once your company collects back the repair cost from the other company, you will get your deductible $ back.
If you go thru the other guys business insurance, there's a real good chance they will direct you to the shop of THEIR choice and no guarantee of the results, and your stuck with it.. |

I made a "die" for my patch panels I will make for the cowl. I cut out one side and had plans to just hammer it out but then remembered the drivers side was rusted even worse to I thought I would make this "die" out of 12 gauge sheet to hammer the line into them.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2
Attempted to start stripping the paint off. I found it this thing has had at least 4 primer/paint jobs, original color appears to have been white. I tried using 80 grit and went through about 8 sheets and only really cleared about 2' of the top of one fender and that area by far appears to be the 'easiest' to strip

I drove mine for the first time! Bought it a few months ago not running and finally got it going! Been 15 years since it had been on the road according to the previous owner...
Still several bugs to shake out but it drove! Also moved it to the garage so I can work on it more. |
