Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Suddenly the Rezin Rockit Road Trip is a reality.
https://forum.retro-rides.org/thread...c-rezin-rockit Fetched the trailer today, generous loan by a neighbour 600 meter from home. He threw in two spare ratchet tie downs to add to my lot. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5117.HEIC Interesting reversing it down here. Tight https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...47b024aa62.JPG On e through, I moved it right back and then unpacked all the glass from the Galaxy as collected earlier this week. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...c956adb894.JPG https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5137.HEIC Using the last of the deck wood from last years rebuild, I made up a basic crate for them all to sit in. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5139.HEIC Piled up. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5143.HEIC Closed in, wedged in and to be strapped down before heading out to Derbyshire en-route to Glasgow https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5148.HEIC Tomorrow Fil and his partner Nikki land in the afternoon in their Sprinter camper van, then we BBQ and early Dark-0-Clock on Tuesday they head out. Dropping off the glass for a large shed build, and overnight in Derbyshire before heading to Glasgow on Wednesday to collect the Rezin Rockit. Seems we may be headed in the right direction. |

Getting ready.....
https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5190.HEIC Should be good enough 125cc Honda CG in a box, loaded too. Just when Fil and NKiki arrived https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5193.HEIC Tight, but easy easy. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5195.HEIC Hooked and ready to rock and roll. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5199.HEIC Next up, fire and burn some meat. Update Later. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Well, trailer is packed, food has been consumed with gusto
Fil and Nikki are off when the wake up, seems Cumbria is not Derbyshire, but what do I know. So as with any worthy road trip, food is the foundation I had suggested we sacrifice something to appease the gods of fossil fuel. Chopping up trees. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...794482fc21.JPG Fire started, and goddess of fire, Nikki ensuring it was hot enough. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5204.HEIC Fil who is doing all the hard work, driving to fetch the Rezin Rockit for me. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...ca360b885f.JPG And there was more. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...262a33e2b5.JPG And lastly, Mr Subtle and Incognito himself, who donated motor and transmission to this build, just headed out get bread and milk. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...7_IMG_5219.JPG Nikki has agreed to be the official photographer on the trip, to keep us updated and entertained Bed time now I guess. |

.
It’s ON !!! Sh!t just got real. Leisurely start to Fil and Nikki’s trip up to go fetch the Thing after spending the night, camped on my driveway after declining a bed inside the house. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5240.HEIC Anyone excited already ? I am not losing sleep yet, but certainly laughing at this crazy thing I have started. Should be fine in the end though. I hope . |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
As I am stuck on a two day web conference I asked Nikki to do the typical Roadtrip photo reports.
Seems she is enjoying it. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...59ec509092.jpg Fil is maybe less so. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...9a0451b074.jpg Blue sky day out there. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...f70f9bfece.jpg Traffic as always. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...9c80ccd07b.jpg But many sights and history out there. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...1028163d56.jpg https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...b557426ceb.jpg Wish I was there to be honest. But we will enjoy it. |

Currently the shell has an original Ford steering wheel fitted. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...7_IMG_4481.JPG Yes. Ugly imho. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...9_IMG_4489.JPG So I decided to walk away from the RX8 wheel that was lovely in red and black. But had controls on the front face etc. So I do have these wheels in my stash. Collected/bought over time from various sources. Including the crusher. I think I have an idea of what I like and may do but as always open it for discussion and advice. Sometimes someone else has much better ideas. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...3_IMG_5251.jpg https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5252.HEIC Thanks. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
This was headed to the council tip if nobody wanted it.
Collection only it said, other side of Portsmouth. It’s HEAVY No problem, give mate @CraigRK a call to see if he can collect. No problem he says, will arrange and do it over the weekend. 500kg capacity it seems. Should lift a Rezin Rockit with ease, before motor is fitted plus my bike and other items as needed. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...SizeRender.jpg Thanks Twizzle. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Thought I would copy and paste Fils post on UKGSER to show his drivers view and perception of the trip so far.

Another update.
Sorry (not) I am just sitting here with a silly grin at my computer. Thanks to Bill, Fil and other generous people, I am grinning. Remember the lost trailer plate? Amazing what a copy of V5 can generate overnight. Door to door delivery. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...636c58e21c.jpg And Bill just about to head out. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...13e75d8b2a.jpg About as real time as you can get. Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Crazy new project! I will be at intrigued to watch. Thought about doing something similar as I have a 1994 Jeep Wrangler being a direct descendant of the same predecessor. I did not know that they made resin tubs for them so I will be interested to see as you get into it. I thought it would be pretty cool to get aluminum parts from the Philippines for mine to drop the weight and increase the corrosion resistance. No real plans for that now though. Also toyed with lowering it but instead put a little bigger wheels and tires and left the suspension stock. Pretty cool the friends you have and the things that it allows you to do, sometimes from home. I'll enjoy the updates. BTW, I can't believe all that food was for four people.
When you sold your Blazer did they tell you why they're filming Stranger Things in England? Do you watch the show? It's pretty fun for those of us who were alive in the 80s. |

Good to see you here LT7A Thanks for taking the time to chat. The English love a Kit Car, mainly due to the 70’s and 80’s cars rotting away before you could empty a tank of gas. Some are truly butt ugleee. Some are pretty, dainty or functional. There was nicer looking one, known as Jago Jeep , this one is an Eagle RV I love the Filipino style Owner type or Tamiya style jeeps, really go karts.and plan is partly to emulate that with this build. I think the friends all jumping in thing, nationally is not always understood by many. It is all about keeping your “Karma Bucket” Full of good fortune. I have driven 100’s of miles to pick up motorbikes, detoured for tools etc for people I never met before. But it goes around and comes back. Usually unexpectedly. I knew the Blazer was headed for a movie role, but got sworn to secrecy. I do not have Netflix, rather spend the money on tools, BBQ meat or Jack Daniels (joke) Very pleased with how it came out though. |

Part two of todays action PHOTODUMP.
I really hope you all are enjoying the excess of photos and the process pics. If not, you need to get off to Tinder as you clearly need more action. While everyone scurried about, Fil was managing the ratchet straps. As he mentioned elsewhere, Bill and Gordon have clearly done this a few times before, so the speed at which they loaded and strapped the Rezin Rockit down was impressive. While dong his thing, he was handed this....... https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...f1e85133be.jpg For my collection, very cool French plate. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...861fb7bff0.jpg Fill and Gordon getting on with t. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...f22f16e266.jpg So much space for very wide wheels and tyres/tires once it is lowered, a lot. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...f6756ba938.jpg Bill about to replace the plate Fil lost yesterday, that was amazingly sorted out overnight. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...976d24a592.jpg Caged animal ? https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...c0143f6cc3.jpg More strapping down. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...af957a743b.jpg Front wheel does not hold air for more than 30 minutes. Of course there has to be a certain amount of fun when doing this sort of thing, or else it would not be fun, would it ?
So when Bill fetched the RX8 seats from Gordons van, he and Fil needed to test them first. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...7da3e56066.jpg Charging arounD to get them fitted https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...78bb5ee969.jpg Yup........ So the AA man got there pronto to replace the tyre.

Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Quick confession.........
I had my usual bad nights sleep. But when I came down this morning, I saw this........ https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5672.HEIC I was playing with my knob before going to bed last night. Thanks to Bill for sending it down. Paul Walker Fast and Furious item. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...BC4E481418.jpg So having taken the day off work today, I have a load of odd jobs to do, meaning I will not get to play with the Rezin Rockit until much later. Bill managed to find the other two alloys that go with the pair fitted, under a serious pile of junk at the body shop, destined for the scrappy. So he never told me and when it arrived here, along with a real Ford spare, it was a great surprise. So getting some used tyres on them is a priority for today. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5645.HEIC Last for now...... But not the least. @CraigRK sent me this pic early this morning. No idea where he found it. But super appropriate. May as well make it the official logo for the Rezin Rockit https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...617be5112a.jpg Later guys. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
At last, 26 hrs late.
Sorry team. So the last pic from the road, before they rolled up to my place was this...... https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...a6c0b1ea14.jpg So I set up with phone on video to capture the arrival. And photos for the story. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...59c7a9138c.jpg By the time had done faffing with[hotels for you guys, Fil who had had a long, stressful day, was already at it. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...bee270eaa6.jpg https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5621.HEIC I was pleased with what I saw of course. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...616d89f437.jpg Once unloaded, we pushed it through to the back of the kitchen. This thing is incredibly light too, I was surprised. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...8DE0E7EA70.jpg After unloading, I hooked the Galaxy up and took the trailer up to the farm where the owner lives. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...32C6777DC6.jpg They did not hear me, or the dogs knocking, and it took me 20 minutes to get Nick to answer the door. A quick chat and road report, had me telling him the one tyre had let go on the motorway, but been replaced en-route. Mainly to make sure he checked the others as usually if one goes, the rest are shortly to follow. Here is where the story changes direction for the good, in fact, for the great...... He asked in surprise how much it had been ( Do remember that I had already paid for it and was happy to take responsibility) old rule of borrowing: “You bend it, You mend it” so not a problem. I had told Fil when it happened to just do whatever needed to be done. So he insisted that he reimburse me for the cost, I declined, he insisted, I declined again, he walked away to the house, and I started to drive to the gat, and he came out with cash in hand, saying it was his trailer and would have been his cost in any case in 800 miles had I not used it. After once more declining the money, he said that it would displease him if I did not take the money, I had also offered to go half and half with him. I guess for a guy with a 4 week old Tesla, an Audi R8 , Bentley and Range Rover plus a few very nice motorbikes on his drive, who still does his own bodywork and is currently restoring an older Jeep CJ for his wife, this is not a biggie. To me, the cash was already spent when Fil had the blow out, however, this once again reiterated the nature of this hobby and the people who inhabit this space. So, result. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5644.HEIC After getting back and parking the Galaxy, we decided Fish nd Chips we’re in order, rather than me making dinner. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5650.HEIC We sat chatting till quite late, after which Fil and Nikki Headed for the camper, as they declined the indoors. My night sucked as usual, but I woke to a real nice lazy sunrise. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5669.HEIC Looking out the bedroom window my eye was instantly drawn to the Rezin Rockit. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...SizeRender.jpg For now, it is early days and like a toddler it will take time to find its feet. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...C_IMG_5686.PNG Becoming a Teenager later, though still not quite knowing its ultimate destiny or even having a real identity. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...A_IMG_5687.PNG My day was filled with a load of small unrelated jobs and I did not get to touch it till about 3.30 this afternoon. More later. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
So after coffee, chats etc, Fil and Nikki left for Cambridge around 10.30 or so.
But not after he and Mickey carried the RX8 seats down to the garage and plonked them in the Chevy C10 cab. Looks good, trust me. Wrapped up, thanks to Bill who is a fan of protection https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5683.HEIC I also noted that some big wheels mush have called these arches home at some point, with this sort of damage against the body up front. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5678.HEIC Fast forward to this afternoon, after shopping and trying to find a few things, including some free/cheap used tyres for the two alloys Bill had dug out to roll the car around on. One guy offered to fit me some for £40.00 after the guys at my usual tyre shop, used for all the Galaxy and Berlingo’s new tyres, was not there today. I will go back tomorrow morning early to see if they can help In the mean time........ I had to start messing around. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...dd4bc66d58.jpg Front end hub, A-arms look tiny compared to my Chevy Blazer and the C10 items. All rubbers and bushes seem to need replacement and servicing too, and if this thing is to become an antisocial animal, it will need to handle safely. I trust the service items will be aFORDable https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5711.HEIC Small little components. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5710.HEIC So on closer inspection, it seemed the front drivers side has one stud broken off, I found it inside a nut, in the leaves and rubbish in the tub. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5688.HEIC Tyres are 195 rear, and 205 in the front. Amazingly still do not come close to filling the gap. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5692.HEIC Really interesting modification on the passenger rear rear hub and wheel to make two nuts fit a non standard steel wheel. Two studs removed, leaving two. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5712.HEIC Two nuts again, as it seems to be the case all around the Rockit https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5690.HEIC Passenger side front wheel is totally flat. I tried to fit the spare steel that Bill had sent along, only to find it does not fit the disc brake setup once bolted in, everything was locked tight. Burger ! https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5691.HEIC So after not getting tyres, Sally and I (she is a patient girl) went to Small Ford Centre in Chatham and I got some wheel nuts, to replace the many missing ones, and to get a set that were all the same. 50p per item, equalled £8.00 in wheel it’s. Only problem is that they are for steel wheels. Fail. Well not a com-let’s failure, I do like some steels on these as well, so will keep them for future use. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5696.HEIC Sally’s son Ryan came around to look as well, he is very intrigued, being a 20 year old in a 1.6 diesel Fiesta, that’s already significantly modified, His,first question when O said the roll bar was getting removed, was “What are you going to do with it” and his eyes looked like those of a magpie. I want to find a thicker diameter, roll bar, and possibly mount it with a slight rearward tilt. He also gave me some alloy wheel nuts he had got for his previous Fiesta, the tapered cones are solid, and I am not sure if they are meant to be the “loose type” of cones, any advice? https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5753.HEIC Almost midnight, bed time. Amazed that two weeks ago Bill had gone to look at this thing that had been offered to me for sale, and now it is on my,drive. More tomorrow for those, who are in need of a fix, or still watching. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Thought I would quickly update the cost of fetching it so far.
I had agreed to pay Fil’s diesel in the Sprinter van for fetching the car in Scotland. But his and everyone else involved’ s contribution is priceless and most people really don’t get it fully. I also offered to pay for sausage rolls on the trip, he declined as they had a fridge full of food in the camper van. Fil took a load of used double glazed windows and a Honda CG125 in a box up. Bike was sold for £60.00 to a friend, cash into kitty. Trip was 1074.7 miles, door to door Fuel total £247.18 Making it 23p per mile Subtracting £60.00,from the bike. That I had paid for 5 years ago. Left £187.18 to pay Car was £350.00 with so much work to do, and a lot more missing than just engine and transmission. RX8 seats,,still to be made to fit £70.00 thanks to Bill. Wheel nuts £8.00 Two tyres on the alloys who knows, I will find out later. This will cost a fair amount to get to MOT level, and on the road safely, but hopefully it will be fun nd teach me more new, stuff. Priceless. Oh, and you guys get to laugh at me. Woke to this today. Not done a whole lot yet, been helping Tom the lodger sort stuff out. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...9170FD0F6A.jpg |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
So late afternoon yesterday after getting back from shops and various jobs, Sally and I were able to start on looking at, and cleaning the Piggy.
She continues to surprise me. By the time I came out the house after doing some work stuff that needed to be dealt with, this is what I found. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5701.HEIC And the back of it looking like this https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...5384a33f70.jpg So proceeded to get a brush, wheelie bin and scoop..... About 1/3 of the bin filled with leaves and debris. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...28b608f4b0.jpg Moss next, and leaves under the hood. How does it all get in there? https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...69207ac83a.jpg After all this, I went to get my pressure cleaner, forgetting that it really does not work anymore, resulting in waking Mickey up from his 6.00pm post pub sleep, he was zonked. Got his cleaner and then proceeded with the job for an hour or so. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5728.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...6dcbde7342.jpg Only got the rear half done, as it turned cold and light was fading. But happy so far. Need to do the rest today. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5734.HEIC Starting with it looking like this....... https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5781.HEIC Pressure cleaner left it like this, after intense, close up cleaning https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5776.HEIC Much better, but still not right. I thought I would try a trick I used on the Chevy Blazer glassfibre roof before. Domestos bleach gel, brushed on neat, washed off after 5 minutes, removes the staining, giving a much nicer look. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5780.HEIC So off to the tyre place next, then back to pressure clean the rest of it, followed by bleach to remove the stains after that, and another pass with the pressure cleaner to remove it all. Hope to get that all done today. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Back from town.
12 miles to joy. Two used tyres fitted for cost of a “drink” Happy with that. Now for the front half with the pressure cleaner after fitting the alloys quickly. Did forget to go to Halfords to grab a can of Arizona Gold to try out on one side. Job for another day maybe. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
So I went to town this morning to see if I could get some used tyres fitted to the alloys Bill got me.
Also saw this, sign of the times. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5784.HEIC So I got the wheels sorted for a “drink” as the shop was empty, and to be honest, the tyre shops pay for disposal of used tyres. 5 minutes, in and out. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5783.HEIC Mate Craig collected my 50p purchase for me. 500kg capacity, means lifting The front or rear individually/independently on the Rezin Rockit is easy to do. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...6da0aafccc.jpg Back home the new wheels could go onto the Rockit, removing the steels that really we’re not quite delivering. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5787.HEIC I also, knocked out the Stud that had been broken off. Will replace it and the two from the rear hub. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5793.HEIC Of course stuff like the brake,Cali per, broken off, along with its brake line, needs refurbishment and replace ing. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5791.HEIC So much work to be done to get this Nack on the road. Rough as a badgers butt. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...CADBF01801.jpg Right.... Any cartoonist or commercial type artist on here? https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...aedf6de8f8.jpg I really like these designs. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...617be5112a.jpg But I would like a naive logo for the Rezin Rockit that represents all of this, the Jeep roots etc. PM me if you know someone clever and artistic please. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Seen in 2015 in Austin, Texas.
That's a hood ornament. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psbcka5urv.jpg Notice also the flying pig hanging from the rear view mirror. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps17xivezd.jpg |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Still trying to catch back up to real time.
Only 16 hours behind now. Getting some tidying up done was high on the agenda. Found some interesting “details” in the design and build. Can you see it? https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...SizeRender.jpg I also removed most of the original radio and interior light, rear view mirror mess. Need to try get these two parallel bars out as well, Bill whacked his head on them twice, I am still due to do it. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...C54410B678.jpg Also removed most of the seatbelts and mounts from the rear, and despite the bloody long bar, still could not get the roll bar shifted. The seat belt cassettes are on the same mounts. Will try again today when it warms up, and after the bleach job. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...MG_5845(1).JPG Certainly do not want or like this bull bar. Heavy and unsightly, plus rusted through under plastic coating. And if it is on a diet, this will help. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5803.HEIC Some serious bolts keeping it all together. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5807.HEIC Better? https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5811.HEIC Other side? https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5816.HEIC The moss stains were really resistant. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...ce6ed4e329.jpg Last bit. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5850.HEIC Anyone know what these lights are from? Body and internals on this one rotted away completely, so need replacing. I prefer to replace like for like. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...024415fd12.jpg Lens after cleaning out the rust stains. Certainly can be refitted. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...3b23eba932.jpg Actually pleased that I could also do the whole engine bay, behind the grille, under the hood etc. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5868.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5872.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5866.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5874.HEIC Does my butt look big in this? https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5856.HEIC From up high. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5875.HEIC Not that there is any money, but yesterday’s Money Shot. Some change so far. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5855.HEIC So, now it is Sunday 9.25 and the next job is a coffee, walk around the Rezin Rockit for some silly grinning and dreaming. Then get on with the bleach. Followed by one more run with the pressure cleaner. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5891.HEIC Anyone see hope? . |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
So......
Bleach city. Big brush, generous application https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5907.HEIC Once All done, leave it to stand for a few minutes. Then pressure cleaner again. Resulting in this. Dulled right now, but I am sure that there will be some polish to bring a bit of a chime back. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...8C3646B05E.jpg The only damage on the whole car, not too bad for a driven car from 1992 https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5917.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5918.HEIC I also took off the centre bars between the roll bar and front screen. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5909.HEIC After all of this, I also added the rear lens that I got from @spacekaddett To the back end. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5915.HEIC Front end view. Happy https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5912.HEIC After this, I rounded Sally up to come help me with the next job. She really is a good person to abuse. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Opinions again.
I do not have any of the stuff needed yet, and not given the it a lot of technical consideration. But. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6019.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6018.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...9_IMG_6020.PNG I a, thinking a simple, hinged pipe bar where the yellow masking tape lies. Then attached to it, a racing style window net (re-used, recycled) hanging down on a 5mm to 10mm Max rod shaped frame for it to be attached to. 99% visual, racer style. Not really an airbag or soft plush cushion. I also thought that buying some nylon webbing and stitching it all together by hand was an option, albeit not a clever one. Opinions? |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
So my helper hates a photo, no matter why.
Still, fooled her. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5937.HEIC The old seatbelt mounts were attached at the same points as the roll bar rear mounts. They were rotten and needed to come out, so I crawled underneath and let Sally drive the 3 foot breaker bar and about 5 extensions. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5953.HEIC Got them, and the rotten carpet and under felt out. Then cleaned up again, how many times have I cleaned this out. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5961.HEIC Other way. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5971.HEIC Looking at the base, behind the seats, where the seatbelt mounting nuts are welded in, it became apparent that this was not a safe place, and my newly bent and laid out roll bar would be a good idea. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5965.HEIC But first a bit of fun. I had enough of doing the real job of cleaning and prepping. There would be more to come. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Lunch time action.
Micky loves this sort of thing. Today we were back to full social distancing, and it felt so stupid for me to wear a face covering as he is isolating. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6031.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6032.HEIC Rear end, looks different, coz it is. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6036.HEIC Front again https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6035.HEIC So the next trick will be finding some 60mm to 70mm Outside diameter pipe and a pipe bender to make a new roll bar, differently configured. More in a bit. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
So after all the stuff I did the last few days, yesterday afternoon was also time for relaxing.
So I went to the garage and pulled out some of the stripes I had put on the Blazer Thought it worth playing about a bit.. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5942.HEIC AND FOR THE PHOTOSHOP KINGS.......... Knock yourself out Lowered, coloured, plain, GOLD WHEELS, change the wheels outright, steels, alloys. Go on.\ https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5939.HEIC One of my colour schemes will be along this line. Sticking to the white as primary colour. Star Gasoline Racing ? https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5927.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...E_IMG_4123.JPG https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...8_IMG_4124.JPG https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...C_IMG_5950.PNG https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...F_IMG_5952.JPG So there you go team. Show us what you have. |

OK......... So let’s get this put to bed first. Wheels are back on, its on the floor, and I am safe, tools put away. Ion Monday afternoon I had a Video call with @PaulY to show him the underside and chassis. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...2_IMG_6070.PNG Took some pics for you all to comment on, plan around or just stare at, like I did, in order to plan how to lower this thing significantly, while keeping it driveable. Sally had come over for dinner after work, and took a sneaky pic from the kitchen. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...6a3e0a91ff.jpg Front https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6071.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6060.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6066.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6067.HEIC Various views. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6072.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6073.HEIC You will note bits missing, bits undone or loose. I guess that will be part of the challenge. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6069.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6068.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6064.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6062.HEIC So there you go. . |

.
Houston, we have a problem. Meet “ Burger “ she lives in a Vauxhall Viva estate. When discovered a year ago,the nobody knew how she got inside a closed car in an engineering companies yard. Turns out, she had found a large enough hole under the rear wheel arch to make her way inside, and create a home. Since then, she was de-wormed, de-flea’d and has two full meals a day, while keeping an eye on the engineering shop’s owner. Seems that ideally she needs a real home. Sweet as a sweet thing and loves a cuddle. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6218.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6224.HEIC Soooo tempting. While I was in the yard, I was offered this twin axle galvanised car trailer that only had one axle as someone managed to mangle the front axle. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6242.HEIC No space for it, but wish I did. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
With slowly returning to normal, and going out again, I got this delivery today.
https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6146.HEIC Guess the honeymoon could not last forever In another postal related trick, Fil, who went to fetch the Rezin Rockit with his camper van, for the cost of diesel, was not impressed when I rounded up the cost and “overpaid” him. So he sent me an envelope with the receipts and a £2.00 scratch card. That made me laugh out loud, realising it was no use trying to challenge the man to a game of one upmanship https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...SizeRender.jpg Then I made a protesting Sally scratch..... No win though, which was also fine. Imagine a win though. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6205.HEIC In other news. I went to see mate Darren and he offered me Burger The sweetest stray cat that lives in a car in his yard, Sally and others said yes, I am still contemplating. Inside the shop, this is one of his side projects, alongside the real day job tasks happening. Meet Project Covid. V8 Beetle. Planned for a beach race called Race the Waves https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6216.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6249.HEIC Out in the yard, he had this galvanised car transporter trailer, was twin axle, one got damaged, yours for £250.00 collected on Sheppey. Wish I had space and use for it. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6242.HEIC So next stop, inside a container, crawling through a caravan body....... To this. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6226.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6230.HEIC Gearbox side. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6237.HEIC Comes with a wiring loom, hopefully the ECU is somewhere too. Should be in there. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6240.HEIC And found one 5 point harness. May not be the right thing for the car and seats I have , but hopefully it works, and once I have a second one, which Bill in Scotland has a Black example of. Displayed on the Vauxhall Viva’s hood, where Burger lives. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6241.HEIC Meet Burger, not a Harley, and not yet adopted, but certainly has put the cat amongst my mental pigeons. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_6218.HEIC So there you have it, engine and gearbox. Clearly needs a lot more........ |
It looks like you have successfully got through the first round of interviews to be Burgers new servant. Good luck with the second round.
Iain
LOL...! I am thankful. Darren, like me is a sucker for animals..... she already owns his asss. Sally says her name is Molly, not Burger. I don’t care what her name is, but rather if she will sit on my lap, cleaning herself. Seems she is a cleaner. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...f474e62657.jpg https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...8cf809d5f8.jpg Looks like a real shop cat. Seems like another Harley . |
