here is a pic of my 72 k5. Got it a little over a month ago. Been working non stop to make it what i want. I bought it with a small lift and 35" tires. Now it's 9" lift with 38" boggers. Put in the dana 60, eaton, both 4:56's and locked. Built cage and bumpers, 4 wheel disc brakes, hydralic clutch, never like the mechanical linkage. Like most everyone's toys, it will never be done but that is what keeps it interesting!

Re: How about some pics of your 4x4
Seeing these nice looking 4x4's is making me want one.. wait a minute, maybe two
Just curious.. what would ya'll think of a 69 crew cab sitting on 2 1/2 ton Rockwells with a 5.9 Cummins and a 10 speed Eaton running maybe some 42" IRocks? Been thinking about something like that.... :metal: |
Re: How about some pics of your 4x4
Wile, nice bumper/winch setup!!
|
Re: How about some pics of your 4x4
0331grunt, 69 crew cab, awsome. Just seen one @ Indy Jamboree last weekend. If you use the come on powerplant, no trouble spinning the 42's. The Irok's, well? Not the best friends of mine. Best of luck with the build if you go that route

Well it's a sad day for me. Apperently my insurance company doesn't feel that this truck is worth repairing. A shame to see one of these old trucks go to the scrap yard, but all the hoops to jump through just aren't worth it once it's been written off.
|
Re: How about some pics of your 4x4
hmmm heared that one before they go for the book value .
best thing to do to prevent this from happening is haing the truck apraised by a certified person keeping photo's and reciepts of the rebuild or restauration helps with that apraisal too and insure it to that value it will cost more but at least you get the price you payed for it and it might prevent the truck being a total loss having legal insurance helps fighting the other guys insurance when they have to pay for it ........ that works as long as the other parties insurance company isnt the same as yours that said i never trust insurancecompanies as far as i can trow a fit you insurance money is safer in a bank during the economycrisis |
Re: How about some pics of your 4x4
how about just keeping it and repairing? not going thru insurance.
needs front clip, maybe a minor frame pull. i'm sure theres more damage than appears but it doesn't look too bad to me. you know.. its a shame to seem 'em get scrapped. :dig: |
Re: How about some pics of your 4x4
if im correct if a car or truck is totalled the worth of the truck will stay zero no matter if you goldplate it and sprinkle it with daimonds
the insurance payed there deu in there eyes and they whont do it again if you get hit a second time if you want to redo the truck you might start with a rusted out shell or one with a tired engine with papers from the same year and bolt mecanics and the sheetmetal over to it , that way its worth as mush as you got for it this time |
Re: How about some pics of your 4x4
hmmmm just thinking that old car scrapping thing might have sumtin to do with it as whell

I went through the same thing a year ago and recovered. If you can do all of your own work and find cheap sheet metal it is worth it. The frame is the biggest concern I had and it worked out okay.

Re: How about some pics of your 4x4
Hit a tree. The truck has $8000 damage. There is quite a bit of damage that's noe emmediately apperent. According to the insurance appraisal it's only worth $5000. There are actually quite a few scratches and dents throughout the truck (not from this incedent) deminishing it's value. So I'll take the $5000 and try to get a Blazer.

Re: How about some pics of your 4x4
thats actually a good price they gave for it they give a lot less where i live

Yes, I can stuff 44's http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...0542d75f0c.jpg you can see my broken body mount in this one... http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...845e5d4535.jpg getting to one of my favorite camping spots http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...0f6af49038.jpg Grind the cab on one side and 200 yard drop to the bottom on the other. I had to cut eight inches off that root ball to get by. http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...b13c38f9da.jpg These are just a few of what I have. Now, mind you, i wheel with all toyotas, jeeps and scouts. I am the only fullsize that that can and will follow them anywhere and everywhere they go! My truck is currently in pieces, the 3" body lift is coming off in favor of a 1" aluminum BL, the bushwacker flares have been torn off by trees, so the fenders are gonna get hogged out, got some suspension work to do and eventually a flat bed and 'cage. if anyone is in my area and wants some awesome wheelin' trips this winter, let me know! |
