Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
thanks John...
I was looking at both of those yesterday I need to call M&H Fabricators, they don't seem to sell complete kits, just the individual harnesses. and I believe they supply LMC.. As far as American Autowire, they seem to have a really nice harness, also one of our vendors, Musclerodz, sells one specific to our trucks for a reasonable price http://musclerodzstore.com/index.asp...ROD&ProdID=261 the description sounds like a complete kit with original grommets and connectors |
Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
Ouch..
Is that for a whole wiring kit for yours? |

they don't technically sell a "kit" that is the price for buying all the individual harnesses, no new switches or anything. I think the American Autowire kit comes with new switches and wiring for after market a/c, hei, tach, newer alternator, courtesy light, ect., ect. sounds like a good deal for under $500 |
Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
I'm getting a headache.............................
|
Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
If I had it to do over again I would go with the American Autowire kit. It looks REAL nice and is the most complete kit I have seen. I will use one on my next project...

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
So your lookng to rewire the whole truck back like original? or are you upgrading...
|
Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
^^
Call Ron Francis wiring, you fill out what gauge plugs you have ign, and all accessories and they custom make you one for your truck. Mine has all with spots for door poppers, power windows, A/C, MSD and all the usual goodies to get you confused  But now i have to buy a engine harness for the TPI..:uhmk: |

Switching the stock wiring to HEI and internal regulated alternator isn't very difficult.

small update....
got the holes in the frame welded up, also finished welding the radiator cut out replacement pieces, and ground everything smooth... Attachment 469882 Attachment 469883 Attachment 469888 Attachment 469881 Attachment 469887 I loaded up the front suspension to take to work so I can press out the lower ball joints and clean everything up and get it ready to paint....think we are going to get poly A-arm bushings, I'm worried about the squeak though, I know the poly bushings reuse the metal sleeve, any suggestions about removing the rubber from the sleeve?? I have a press at work, will the rubber press out of the sleeves...I'm also going to make a call this week to see about getting the frame blasted, and I'm going to get some POR so the wife can get the frame painted...we gotta get back on this thing if we wanna drive it this fall ;) Thanks for tuning in :metal: |

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
I was just doing that this afternoon. Removed those tabs you noticed in my bed and ground off the exhaust hanger rivet. Still need to take a couple pieces off the frame. Are you using flap disc's? Scott and I were talking about them a couple days ago.

Yes, I love the flap discs, I was using an 80 grit one. I did use a regular grinding disc on a hard to get to weld on the inside of the frame. I have found if you grind with an 80 grit then go back with a 120 or even a worn disc, you can polish and smooth the metal of all the grind marks.... Quote:
Thanks John! I'm not afraid to make a mess  |
