This will allow me to use the Camaro output shaft and not have to open the tranny up and switch to a slipe yoke style. It's rated to a 1000HP and costs around $750. It was going to cost around a $1000 to change the ouput shaft, not counting buying a new driveshaft.....

Tomorrow!!!

Let me know if you decide to get a couple guys together for a quick build weekend. My wife is a flight attendant, so I fly free and I wouldn't mind getting the hell out of dodge for a few days!

I'm serious. Feb. is pretty full right now.

Any weekend in March, except the 1st one, looks good to me.

How far are you from Panama City?

I'm still gathering parts, so FEB is out. I need to check with the wife and see when my son's spring break is. I'll see how much I get done this month and then let you know. Panama City is about 1.5 -2.0 hrs depending on traffic.

That is sweet looking!

No rush on my end. I can get away in April and May too!

The only problem with this deal is you are going to be an accomplice when I have to have a s/c. You have to explain why to my wife!

Hi Rod,
How much weight do you figure you'll be saving with this swap? Also, got any ideas on HP and torque estimates?

I'm guessing around 100 lbs savings. I would like to end up with around 500-550 to the wheels.....at least that's the goal, :D.

Re: 68 S/C update.....

Hey Rob!!
Fantastic Build and engine!!! I had no idea you had changed directions with the motor until I started doing research for my 6.2 swap. Quick couple of questions for you if you don't mind.
1. What engine stands did you use? I'm going to use the dirty dingo mounts but I'm a little confused about if I can use the Big Block engine stands in my '72 Burb, or if I need to change over to the 73+ stands.
2. Will the factory ac compressor mount with the Dirty Dingo engine mounts? I found out from a reputable shop that the 6.2 AC compressor will work just fine with my Vintage Air Setup (yeah, that means I don't have to buy another compressor for the serpentine system and I hopefully won't have to buy other brackets, depending on what you say).

THanks for your help!! Looks great!!!
Shawn

1. I'll probably use CPP stands. You could use the 73 and up DD mounts
2. Just depends on the compressor and where you align your motor fore and aft. As far as using the factory compressor, as long as it's not a variable speed one, you will probably be OK. However most of the LS compressors won't work, at least that's what i've been told. Every setup is a little different, so there will be some trial and error no matter how much research you do.
