My small-block 133" GMC weights 5,300 with all tools, sides Etc. What makes your rig so heavy? Or am I missing something here? -BA

That occurred to me when I weighed out, but then I forgot about it. I will go back tomorrow if I get a chance and weigh the truck.

You always wonder what buttons they push with these electronic scales, both paying at landfill and receiving at scrap yard. I will pull on and it sets at a number, then someone does something and all the numbers flail around to a new number. You just have to trust what they're doing. What would that trailer weight?

davischevy 06-15-2018 10:24 AM

Re: Lets see pics of your truck hauling!!

I pulled across the scales this morning (It's on the way to the coffee shop).

Truck scaled 5,150 lbs
my fat butt - 230 lbs
Sheet OSB, lawn tools and uniforms in -100 lbs

Truck with half tank of fuel 4,820 lbs

Re: Lets see pics of your truck hauling!!

So that trailer weighs 4,490 empty.

I have a 26 foot travel trailer that weighs about 5800 pounds. There must be a lot of steel in that trailer! Do/can you haul farm implements on it?

davischevy 06-15-2018 11:11 AM

Re: Lets see pics of your truck hauling!!

We haul mini-ex's, skid steers, tractors etc.. If you look one over, it's not hard to see the weight. The subframe is a load in itself, and add an all steel body and there you go.

We have three of these trailers, And we have power struggles over who gets them all the time. They are one handy piece of equipment. On small jobs they haul the machine, retrieve materials, haul off the waste, load the machine and leave.

Hauling waste is much less expensive than a dumpster. We have run the numbers, and one of these pays for itself in less then 18 months. On small jobs sooner because of the delivery and pickup on the dumpster.

Down side is most of our trucks require a CDL to pull these.

Re: Lets see pics of your truck hauling!!

What is a CDL? Here, I'd call it a California Driver's License, but that is no indication of quality, based on what I see driving around here.

I used to do a lot of builders. That looks like a good one.

That truck needs to live farther south where we don't have salt. I could even keep it at my place.:lol:

Do they use salt in Cahoots? Maybe you and I could share it there? 😜

I just took notice of your K/20 last night in that 'driver' thread and really liked it. Now I see you ain't lyin' about using for chores. A healthy load there. Is that a smile I see on that truck? Just my kind of truck and use for them. That truck would not be overlooked at a show either!

I think Cahoots is in Maryland. It's where the hiway dept, salt producers, and auto mfgrs are located.

Park the truck at my place for a couple of hours and it would be incognito.

Well that don't work, because I couldn't change anything about it.

Looks like you should have made two trips!

I'll bet the steering was really light and squirrelly on the drive home.

Terrible picture I know, but I closed my PhotoBucket account, and with it went a lot of good pictures.

All I have left now are some old photo album pictures on film (remember that stuff?) that I can scan to my PC.

This was just after I bought the truck in '95, check out that goofy wide rear bumper that came off of who knows what.

Yes I replaced it.

...that was a fun weekend! :D

I hauled some steel last week, then a Dana 60 front axle a few days later, this is my new Dana 70. Friends and family hate the lift gate. This is why I bought it, I probably wouldn’t have picked up the 70 unless I had the gate. Bought from a private party and he didn’t have a hoist, we Just drug it over to the gate and strapped it on, then I drug it off onto a cart when I got home, made a very difficult task easy.

Last Monday, camping. In between the trees, so not too much to see. Then when I got home, I forgot to get a broadside shot before putting it back in storage.

Yep, that's the Canon Powershot I bought in '07 that I have used to take every picture I've posted since.

This was last weekend. I went to a friend's to run the metal on his shop gables. That's the 30' walkboard on the ground with 2 24' pump jack poles and on the truck is my little 18'er I like to lay the poles on and my 24' Babcock wooden ladder. Not much of a load in the picture, but it's hauling and I hauled it all up the road a couple hours away. This old truck doesn't play games :ito:

I seem to have lost the photos of my '69 C/10 hauling old engines so here's one of my old GMC in Randsburg, California, heading to Death Valley :

Attachment 1802166 .

I sort of miss this giant, it was a special order heavy duty 3/4 tonner for Northwest Van Lines when new, not anything extra, I hauled and towed many things with it larger and heavier than it was .

Slowly of course, I have no death wish apart from riding Motocycles .

Very cool, me and the old man have been working on VWs and Chevy's since I can remember.
As of now I have a 68 C10, he has a 70 C20, 2 Karmann Ghias, 3 Bugs, and a 66 Minibus. Would be great to get them all in one picture one day.
