Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I drove it for awhile today then took the hood loose again to mess with the gaps. I just couldn't get them any better than these pictures. I installed rebuilt hinges and did a few adjustments when I installed them. Then again today to try and get the drivers side better but it just ant going to happen I guess. I took it loose a bunch and did what I thought would even it up. It either wouldn't shut are it would hit the fenders.
I know these trucks weren't the best body lines for straightness so I'll live with it. The back of the hood sits down now like it should though! ;):chevy: http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/...F442E84838.jpg http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/...F46626A4E3.jpg http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/...F45BD07F93.jpg http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/...F1BF54DC4C.jpg http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/...F1820E2630.jpg |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Looks to me if the hole front was shifted over you could get your gaps even.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Yes IMO the front is out of square and needs to be shifted to the drives side so each side of the hood can get the same gaps.
I would guess if you loosed all the front bolts you could shift the front over to fix that. Posted via Mobile Device |

Thanks I may start on that tomorrow.;):chevy:

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Went to my shop and dropped my 70 stepper of the life & gave her a bath and a small detail job and took her and my wifie to a local cruise night. Lots of great rides here in Camarillo old town. Cheers, Pat

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Well took my truck for a run yesterday but the big block was a bit cold and I almost stalled it so sidestepped the clutch a bit and turned at the same time while shooting out a tooth from the side spider gears right thu the rear cover so brought it home and gutted the rear diff. Now I need some info guy's in the know. I have a crappy 73 and up gov. lock posi unit, could put new spiders in but is it worth it, heard they are the "worst" GM diff. Will an Eaton or Auburn posi unit swap in place in the same diff housing (12 bolt). Here are a few pic's. Too much power and tire combo.Haha.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Between yesterday and today I've built my 20" drop hitch to pull my mastercraft, made my tailgate hinges, razor bladed all the outside of the glass, cleaned all the inside of the glass, and gave er a new set of spark plugs.. Next is to give it a good bath and take it on a 60 mile round trip to tailgate at a concert! Crossing my fingers for the trip

It is my understanding that an Eaton will go in place of the gov-loc, I have not done it but I was told by a very good mechanic that it would. He also told me that the Eaton is the best to go in a 12 bolt |

Sorry, mudman
Took the "maiden voyage" of about 20 miles yesterday. The leak-chasing seemed to work...knock on wood. Still, the radiator weak spot was the trans cooler circuit. It leaked. So, I've got an external cooler on order and have the cooler lines connected until it comes. I went to time it today and there is only one TDC mark on the h. balancer. Anyone know a fix for that? Maybe someone sells a "sticker". I used a hole (that one of the P.O.s must have drilled) in the dash for something to put in a Radio Shack mini-button for the horn. I'm really not too happy about it, but the hole was already there. And, I *was* sick of sussing out the "beep-beep". Later for the proper fix. And, now the brass rat (mouse?) gets a new ride. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Got out the dies and cleaned up the mangled side mount spare studs the stupid bubbas ruined by using wrong lug nuts , drove it and hauled home another vintage Honda Motocycle , smelled burned oil the whole way there and back - I can't wait to begin overhauling my spare engine .
I wish I were close enough to get that giv. lock rear end ~ I could put it to good use after repairing it as my little 6 Banger engine won't stress it atall . |
