Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Cleaned out the cab of the old flooring and started to lay some Rattletrap FatMat. Had to stop since it was so hot. The backing was starting to melt before I could get it all in place.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Took my truck up to the barn with my wife and our dog. Wanted to see how it was running with the newly rebuilt carb in place.
http://imageshack.us/a/img10/503/wr5b.jpg While at the barn we gave our stallion a turn out and a bath. It is 117 degrees here in AZ today so we wanted to cool him off. http://imageshack.us/a/img856/8113/lzb3.jpg |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
well went to try and get rear wheels off so i could change tires out as old ones will no longer hold air and need to roll on trailer but to my surprise once takeing off lug nuts wheels would not come off. so i teied hitting them with rubber mallet cause they are origanl ralleys and was gonna repaint and keep for now but found out real quick mallet wasnt doin anything except making me angry... so i sprayed centers down with good ol WD40 and came back later with a small sledge hammer...now im really mad they still wont come off..i dont want to ruin wheels but i dont kn if i have a choice... any ideas

Great shot with the horse. My wife is a horse person too. Not afraid of anything including getting dirty or a broken nail here and there. So how did the carb do? |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I finally got around to mounting the fuel tank between the rear frame rails. I like the way it turned out with the bottom of the tank even with the top of the axel tubes. Now all I have to do is finalize the filler location. I want to install it in the stepside fender but am not sure what style. But that is for the next weekend of free time.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
im gonna do the same thing with mine gonna use a flip door from s10 or late 70s and mount it in fender behind wheel

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Sunday evening 23.00 here in the United Kingdom.
Great weather all weekend, got some stuff done to the truck as well. Firstly, went out shopping in it yesterday with Nicola who still refuses to drive it, but I live in hope. She seemed to enjoy herself all day, sitting up like a Meerkat on speed. Back home I had a few bits of cosmetic work planned, also a few pics to take to show the relocated fuel tank. Fuel filler sensibly placed inside, but on the side of the bed, with cap halfway up the side. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps975374bc.jpg No idea what this tank came from, but it fits just right. Also note the rear lowering blocks. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psbf5b160e.jpg Next job was to clean up and repaint the rear bumper. I also removed the American trailer plug unit, to be replaced with a European one. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps23316c5f.jpg And while I was out back and under I thought it sensible to try use a jack to push the rear bumper back into shape. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps59247701.jpg Dully masked up all the bumper after removing the rear number plate. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps616d437f.jpg Result. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pseff93443.jpg While waiting for the pant to dry, I played with my extendable flagpole, as we have an American car show locally on the 4th July. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psef05f4e6.jpg The next job I started at about 11.30 today, after bootfair etc. Nicola had suggested that I go and T-Cut (mildly abbrassive polish to remove oxidized paint) the truck after washing it yesterday. Started with paint on the flat surfaces that looked like this...... http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps95647ae0.jpg Did a whole load of this.....twice. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps75613e04.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps1f032bc0.jpg Ended up with this. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps4a846c3b.jpg I then went back to the house for a cuppa tea, a sandwich and to research the engine bays in these trucks. It seems most are black. My truck has so muuch over spray, it needed to be sorted sooner than later. So out came all my old painting sheets....masking tape and soon the front end looked like this, after a lot of cleaning surfaces etc. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps2107581f.jpg This is the extent of the overspray, which is something I hate. Just shows shoddy preparation. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psd7065f91.jpg Ended here.... http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps6af7e0cc.jpg Done !! Result?? http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps90506942.jpg After this we went up to the farm to take a few photos. I will post them up if anyone is interested. |

Regarding horses and my wife, she is a dental hygienist by trade so she has no squeamishness about anything and she isn't afraid to get dirty. We spend a lot of time at the barn or out in the back country. I am a lucky guy. |

Hey grizz, I know you are a 'detail'-person, so I'm gonna give you a tip many others on here may not have figured out yet. Notice how your wiper blade--even when lowerd to max--does not lie parallel to bottom of the windshield(windscreen:lol:)? Do some Googling & find an arm having an adjustable-angle-stem on its end.
Every after-mkt. arm I've ordered came in such that it makes blades lie at an angle to bottom of w'shield; and I know you are not having any of that! Below is a picture of such an adjustable-stem arm; Tri-Co may be a source, but I'm not sure where I found mine; but trust me, they are out there! And they will allow even you and me to be happy. BTW: Your efforts so far are doing wonders for your new ride! Sam |

Your are a lucky man with a wife that will help, get dirty and not complain. Mine does the carpentery around our house, so I just let her.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Installed a wiper setup from a 72 C10, gave me a two speed motor and a squirter that works.
http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1bdff87c.jpg I'll figure the knob out later. http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/...psaede421e.jpg Used the original washer bottle and mounted next to radiator. http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/...ps272429cd.jpg Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Also made a battery hold down bracket.
http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/...psab517145.jpg Wrapped with rubber on bottom. http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/...psfe310261.jpg Came out great and serves its purpose. http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/...psae6ecbb6.jpg Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
That's a great looking battery hold-down!
Today I finished up two weeks of not driving Cecilia. I have been tore up about that. I finally got my radiator repair finished and some paint slapped down on my mount and bolts. I also gave my ancient (but newly rebuilt) alternator a polishing and painted the mounting arm. Then I drove her just because I could. :D |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
One of the things I noted when I bought the truck was that whoever did some of the mods in the past, had a very heavy hand.
Some Auto Meter gauges have been fitted, two into the original instrument pod, possibly cutting the holes with C4 plastique explosive or a hammer and chisel. The bottom has also been covered with a piece of ally that seems to be glued on there with super glue. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps07e9eea0.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps942d1d31.jpg Loads of cracks in the plastic everywhere you look. Another replacement later type job. Hey Grizz, I have an extra set of gauges with the plastic, if you want it just pay the shipping and its yours. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Painted the top finally, hopefully going to paint the rest of the truck later this week "I hope".

It's going to be 2 toned.
http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...psc5ea7c5c.jpg Hopefully we will finish the rest this week. It's over 100+ degs here so it depends how motivated we are. This heat is no fun to work in especially after working my normal job all day... Posted via Mobile Device Also yes it is gold, the metal halide lights make it look a little greenish. |

Currently only one wiper fitted as the other does not clip on properly, suspect the splines have died over time. Another job for the future (read next couple of weeks) I am also planning on Rain-X for the windows front and side, as I had good results before on my van. |
