Got the panel truck out or its monthly milk run to the country store. The thing is amazing: a month between drives and it always fires instantly and idles smoothly. Really tired of Millennials disparaging carburetors because they don't understand them; this is much cheaper and simpler than my EFI car and runs just as good or better.

58TRUK is efi, i wouldn't have it any other way |
Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Nothing wrong with a good carburetor but I'll take EFI any day. Not a millennial or a boomer, I'm a pre-boomer who has owned and rebuilt many carburetors, but EFI is the way to go especially now that there are several easy ways to add it to older engines. I don't have any thing other than my lawn equipment that has a carb any more.

Don't worry fellas, cars will all be electric pretty soon and even you EFI guys will be dinosaurs. |

Ok with so much talk of EFI, What EFI are you using and the what is the simplest to use on an old SBC that has stock wiring. I am assuming I would need a new fuel pump and tank |

I'm sticking with carbs. I'm not smart enough to second guess physics.

My mind is blown every time I work on this hood! No kidding guys, sectioning this hood makes chopping the top look like making a PP&J sandwich! I went out there today to get the upper halves sized and marked for trimming. And then it hit me that I had to get the bottom mounted permanently first. So I started on that and then a planet from space came and hit me in the head, OMG the hinge framing of the hood is too narrow at the bottom because I trimmed it off the 2.5 inches I sectioned the hood. Well....................in doing that it was too narrow being the hood sides are at an angle, WOW. Ok, so I spent a few hours taking the hood bottom you see open off and on about 127 times to modify the lower pieces of the hood support to mate with the upper part. Now, after all that work I am thrilled with where I am at, I feel a lot better but damn this thing is something else!
Sectioning the cab wasn't even work it was so easy! Brian |

I'm slowly gaining on polishing the back case on my blower. This thing is kicking my butt. I broke ground on a new O'Reillys auto parts store the first of the month. They give me 90 days to be selling spark plugs so it's been hard to get much done on the truck. I'm getting my 15 minutes a day in and making truck money.

That’s one way to get a parts discount, open your own O Reilly’s. You are a patient man.
