Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I called three body shops to see when I can come for estimates on getting the dented fender fixed. Hopefully I can run it over there tomorrow then get those figures out to Jenn and then see what UPS tells us.
I also decided to not fix the one broken bolt that holds in the gas tank. I'll skip that and wait till she is running again. |

This is over a period of about a week and a half.
Pulled heater box to get to the core and found the box badly rusted inside. Ordered a new box and gasket set. Cleaned up the rust on the firewall, went through three different heater cores till I finally got one to match. Just got it all back together and now on to the radiator...finally. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I wish I could post the photos og what " badly rusted " really is ~ my firewall has GAPING HOLES where you just cleaned it and shot some Rustoleum paint ~ wayyyy beyond repair mine is , yours looks terrific , good job ! .

I called a few more places looking for someone who'll install a new windshield , this is crazy as Mercedes Benz Automobiles use grommets too up into the 1990's but no one wants to work on " old cars " what a buncha crap .

Me and the wife pulled out and trashed most of the interior. glad to see that shag carpet gone. Found only normal rust. But PO hacked up the tranny hump way more than I thought for a floor shift.
also removed the cowl and cleaned all the mud and leaves and sticks out of it. Glad to see no rust! Pictures will come later. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Sbell87,
Spare tire on side? AWESOME! My 72 is like that. If you keep that fender, KUDOS, but if you want rid of it and it is rust free, drop me a line. I got bored with working on a paper so I went out and ground a little on the 2nd cab bolt. I had forgotten my extension cord at my condo (worksite) so I tried to use my cordless drill. I didn't get far. http://i1313.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6d48850d.jpg |

Finally got the cover fiasco (sizing issues) cleared up with carscover.com.
Nice folks. And they stood tall. So, if you need an outdoor/fleece lined cover and can't get it from a Forum Vendor, the "Ultrashield" (100% rainproof - claimed...jury's out until it pours) you want for a short bed is Product Code 101VLH4AM, regardless of what their make/model matrix wants you to order. I put it on today. It was bucks-up for me at about $175 shipped. Less than the $500 custom-fit Calcarcover I have had before. But still big dough for me. Fit great (no mirror pockets - I use oven gloves over the leading edges of the mirrors) Belt-Strap under the center. Elastic front and back. Looks high quality. Anyone wants a pic or two, speak up. First and foremost, I go with the supporting Forum Vendors. But I didn't get any response as to rainproof/outdoor guarantees, so I went with that one from www.carscover.com |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I got the truck up on Jack Stands, pulled the front tires, and orders all my front brake parts. The parts will be in by noon tomorrow so as weather is begining to come in on us, I plan on doing a front brake job. Going to replace everything from rubber hoses out to the drums. I am not replacing drums as they are still in good shape. Looking forward tomorrow.
