in the process of installing my rear flip kit. Got it tore apart and then everything put back into place. Decided to call it a night and take a fresh look at it in the morning to make sure we are installing the kit correctly before tightening everything down. Then moving to the front to install drop spindles and lowering springs.

Tried to buy a NOS passenger handle but the last email from the seller was a bit confusing. I sent an clarification email but still awaiting the answer. Hopefully I can still get the handle.

Pulled the battery out of it and put it on the charger. Its starting to freeze here and I didn't my truck running yet so I figured I better pull it than lose a brand new battery.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Finished up the rear flip. Lowered the rear 6.5", and will probably be a little more once I install the c-notch.

Got the front end torn down and the new ball joints installed (that was fun :waah: )

Was hoping to get away with just installing new drop spindles and cutting a link out of the springs, but once the old springs came out it was obvious that the PO had heated the springs. So picking up some 3" dropped springs tomorrow.

I have a 68 truck and just got done taking out my front suspension and putting in a 74 cross member and front suspension for the easy disc brake conversion. Now needing help on what engine frame brackets to use.

Sprung a power steering leak.....
It was only a matter of time with the hose rubbing on the inner like it has been.

I guess its time to get two new hoses made to the correct lengths...
NAPA?

I just may have found a true rust free cab for my '69 .

Sadly they want BIG bucks for it and I have to pay someone to remove it .

I'll go take the glass out to - morrow and see if it's really and truly rust free .

It was yesterday....and it had nothing to do with RAT. Not, really. ;)

I had the chance to behold the best '72 Blazer I've ever seen in my life.
Bar *none*.

Forum Member. Enthusiast. All around *incredible* truck builder.
And one of the best guys you'd ever want to meet.

Thanks, Tom Vogel.

Well, I really didn't feel at liberty to take pics. If I had, I'd probably still be there.:lol::lol:

Tom is humble. So, I'm not sure he's posted many pics. Also, there's a beautiful story that goes with this baby.

Let me put it this way, Mud. It'd be worth the trip down from your cold box to see it, no matter what the plane fare.
When Tom does choose to show it off, you'll see.

For now, all I can give you is a bad blow-up of what's on his avatar:

Got tired of cleaning after 6 hrs. Noticed last week that my valve covers started leaking after sitting so long without running, and a fresh oil change, (dried out cork). So I bought sum rubber ones for ten Bux to hold me over til I can order sum better ones. Figured I might as well clean up those valve covers, bad idea. Another 6 hrs. later and I'm still not satisfied with the way they look. When I originally bought them 5 yrs. Ago it was like looking in a mirror.

I'd try wetsanding them until they're clean, then I'd use polish on them.

Tabs are cut, tapped and screwed "on" w/10/24's to the cover...Next step welder. Then, polish and anodize....

I received the two door handles I bought off the forum. THANKS GUYS!

Both are very nice and exactly as advertized.

I'll have to get some rubber weatherstripping for those and one handle lacks the bolts but I might can use my old ones.

Ordered a new gas tank, sending unit, cap, and adapter plate for my new edelbrock carb
Peeked inside my old tank which I hadn't opened since purchase of the truck( wasnt running when purchased), rusted out real bad.

Dropped off the 2 chamber flowmasters , now they can install the dual 2.5" exhaust once the tank is in

So heres the end result after ten hours of trying different compounds, rouges, polishes, and everything under the kitchen sink. Was about to give up when i found out about "blue magic", got more done in an hour with that than everything else combined. Could have saved my elbow grease for something else...lol. hindsight is always 20/20! Gotta give my good friend Aaron a shout out becauase he was with me the whole time. The proof is in finish.

Re : Polishing Alloys

When I was attached to L.A.P.D.'s Air Support , I discovered " Met All Metal Polish " ~ a pink creme in a can , it's mildly abrasive and wonderful on corroded old alloys , best of all : it works better the less you use .

Interstingly it is also great to bring back old Perspex canopies that are dead & yellow and obviously trash , pink taillight lenses etc.

Recently the druggies across the street sideswiped my old Mercedes leaving thick black crud ground into the original paint , rubbing compound etc. didn't touch it but Met All cleaned it right off and didn't damage my original paint .

Consider it the next time you're trying to salvage some nice alloy rockerboxes like those , or want to have a shiny alternator on your truck .

It wasn't today - it was a couple of days ago, but this has been my first chance to post a picture...I entered Maxine in an Army fundraising car show - won the Commanding General's trophy and a trophy for the highest mileage (which doesn't make much sense for a vehicle with 115,000 miles - I figured someone would show up in a rusty and smoking '60's VW bug with 300K plus miles - heck, my other two late model vehicles have more miles on them than that!)

The competition wasn't too fierce, but hey, a win is a win!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Still nice to win a trophy, I won a first for nicest truck one time and was only 2 trucks, 50/50 chance to win:lol:
