Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Would you recommend the No Limit Wide Ride IFS? I have a 54 Ford that I'm planning on switching out to IFS at some point, and saw they have a kit available.

Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Someone just asked me that yesterday, but in regards to the C10 kit. I'm on the fence about recommending it.
It works well. Does what it should, rides decent, handles well, stops well. The kit wasn't exactly what I'd expected...I had to take a plasma to the crossmember to get clearance for the upper control arms, there were parts missing from the "kit" that took several phone calls and facebook page harassing to get, etc. I don't know if that was teething pains for the new C10 kit, because I think I had one of the first that I saw. FatGump on the board had several of the same issues, and some others. |

I'm in the process of installing the same kit and had many of the same problems

64 Skylark Convertible.
Full frame-off bare metal resto-mod. Turbo LS, full aftermarket suspension with coilovers, 6 piston brembos, Holley EFI...just the usual. http://imageshack.com/a/img18/6748/y58k.jpg |

Fack no. I'm an LS guy. lol.
It'll be "Caddy" powered. I have an LS6 from a CTS-V that's going in. |
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
That Buick is a great idea. I hope you will be posting some pics in the Alternative Tinkerings thread section.

Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Well, it already had a buick V8 in it. I practically had to give it away to get rid of it.
I want to go fast...not be different. |
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Actually those Buick Aluminum V8s were raced in the Indy 500, in lots of rally cars and in several British and Australian sports cars, they are very capable of going fast.
Buick V6s were also raced in the Indy 500, and Stage 1 455s are just beasts. I ran a Rover V8 in a '76 Skyhawk, had a turbo V6 Regal and had a stage 1 in a '74 Regal, all went fast. But yea it's easier to build up an LS, I get it. |
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
I'm no stranger to buick performance...I've spent a lot of time behind the wheel, and just about as much time under the hood of a Grand National. Definitely fast. When it wasn't broken.
With enough money thrown at it, anything can go fast, clearly. I'm sure back in their day, the Buick stuff was badass. Have you ever messed much with LS stuff? If you haven't you might like it a lot. There's a lot of performance/$. In my experience, the same cannot be said for oddball stuff, because it all costs more. |
