Re: Project: Bad Bagged '68.5
here's a little update while I watch cars going in single file at daytona:(
More work on the inner bed panel: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8385/8...40e3bc0f_c.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8090/8...ca678aac_c.jpg had to modify ends of outer bed panels http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8383/8...c4399014_c.jpg At this point, I brought the inner bed panels to a fabrication shop that had an 8 foot break to but the 90 degree flanges on the top of the inner panel. Then I spot welded them in. Also took the header panel to the shop and had them shorten it and put a flange on that also. Here are pics of the start of the bed structure. Using 1" square stock with 1/8" wall. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8369/8...42d423f5_c.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8104/8...a2ed69d1_c.jpg watchin the race: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8098/8...f704528a_c.jpg Here is a close-up of how the body lines of the inner bed panels still match up with the modified wheel tubs. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8517/8...b5d5e11c_c.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8513/8...0ac90f5b_c.jpg |

Re: Project: Bad Bagged '68.5
Man, its been a long time since my last post. Since my last update, I've completely redid the bed frame. I had to some clearance issues, so I rebuilt it out of 1x2 steel tubing instead of the 1x1 I started with. Probably overkill, but nice peace of mind.
The whole bed is shimmed 1/8th inch, so when its time to do final alignment, I can go up or down with it. Here is an overall shot and another of the front bed mounts. It has size mounting points. Two in front, two off the step notch, and two in the rear. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5473/1...e8e2542a_c.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5478/1...0673f655_c.jpg This shot shows where I tied the front bed mount into the frame with a reinforcement that ties the upper and lower rail together. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3819/1...9ede537e_c.jpg |
