Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
Got the side panels done. My mother-in-law and Mandi did them. I haven't bolted them in, still trying to think of a way to do it without using screws but don't think that there is.
I'm really impressed with them. http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/DSCF7747.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/DSCF7748.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/DSCF7749.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/DSCF7750.jpg |
Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
Man those completely set that blazer off!!!
Have you considered the double loop "velcro" that Roddoors and similar companies use to attach their door panels? Maybe a combination of that and a few screws in the least conspicuous spaces? |

Those look nice B. We use some HD velcro here to install tool boxes on truck beds. It's plastic "stem" type, not really hook and loop. Seriously strong stuff. It's made by 3M and it's called "Dual Lock". Part number is MP-3551/52.

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
Have any of you guys went back and looked at the before pics. It is hard to believe that is the same Blazer.

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
That's the stuff! I'm pretty sure you could use it for door latches if you needed to:D

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
I wonder if you use a snap. Then again that would stick up a bit. hmmmm
|
Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
You could always attach computer hard drive magnets to the back of your panels - they would hold them on there for sure - no cutting at all - and you can find them cheap/free if you head to your neighborhood PC store and ask for 'dead hard drive magnets' - you can also attach them to your oil filter and pans to pick up metal debris in the oil.

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
Yeah hard drive mags will hold super hard.
|
Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
Hmm, wonder where you could get some harddrive magnets. Hmm, if only there was this guy that worked in Springfield at a computer shop and lived in White House.
Guy might use his nickname and the name of his business as his user name on a web forum near you! <-------- PS - his avatar might be an ugly brown truck with a huge black topper |

hard drive mags are wicked strong. If that little jerk In White House cant get you any try looking at Northern Tools and see if they have any flat magnets.

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
How would you attach the magnets? Just route out a hole in the back of the panel and glue them in?
|
Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
Looks like you are breathing some life back into her partner, I need to get some pics up of my old ride one of these days...
My old man had a 71 2wd Blazer we did it red and white. This was back in the late 80's it was an old MO DNR truck, we thought so at the time anyway, 350, auto, posi, man, i would have like to have that one now, lots of fun with the top off, blazers are cool old rides. |
Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
Are you driving it yet?
|
Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
Believe it or not, I repaired a saddle bag on my bike using JB quickweld and it is a 10X stronger bond than what it was. Are your panels plywood backed?

The panels are 3/4 MDF. The problem is that the material and foam is stretched over the back about 3 inches down. I'm afraid that if I attach it to the material then it's just going to pull it away from the MDF over time. |
