Sorry to hear about the delay with your promotion. Since you've been in this position for "x" amount of months will they pay you back pay once you get promoted? Now that you mention it, I vaguely seem to recall seeing other guys split their rockers as well. Quote:
Thanks Bud. Progress has been put on hold for a little while. We had revival at church this past week, so I was there every night. Then I leave on Wednesday morning of this week heading to Arkansas for a fishing trip. I'll get back from it on Sunday, so maybe next week I can start back on the truck again. |
Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"
no back pay... that would be nice though. In the end i'll probably be doing the job for one year (-$11,000) until I see the pay.

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"
well since no progress on the truck, How was the fishing trip? where are the pics of the monsters you all landed?

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"
I did manage to work on the truck a little this weekend. Nothing too exciting to post about though, but it's progress.
After we hung the door and was satisfied with how it lined up it was time to button up everything. I started welding up the a-pillar and kick panel and did a little grinding. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0936.jpg http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0937.jpg We then moved onto the cab corner. I got the old one cut out and we mocked up the new panel and trimmed it down to a close fit. We still have to trim it some more before it's ready to go in though. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/DSC03209.jpg http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/DSC03208.jpg http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/DSC03210.jpg See, nothing too exciting, just grunt work. Stay tuned....... |

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"
Did you get your he'n and she'n out of the way so you can go to work? :haha: it depends on how the wife is feeling tonight as to whether I can work or not. She's not doing to good right now.

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"
Not much progress to post about lately. I've been out of town recently visiting family and then out of town again for a wedding in Pigeon Forge, TN over Labor Day.
We managed to work on the cab a little over the weekend, until we ran into a little snag with parts. Long story short, I had to order another driver's side outer rocker, because we ran into some fitment problems with the first repop Counterpart rocker that I had. This time I ordered a Key Parts rocker from Top Banana, so we'll see if that makes a difference or not. In the meantime, we decided to work on the passenger side. We test fit the outer rocker with the old floor in place and hung the door and everything looks good at this point. Anyway, here's a cheap motivational snapshot of the passenger door. These Goodmark doors line up really well right out of the box. With past reviews of repop doors on here I was really worried that we'd have more problems with them fitting that what we are. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0938.jpg While the door was hung we figured we'd check the door hoop fitment with the new drip rail and once again another problem was discovered. I somehow ended up with (2) driver's side drip rails. Oh well, what can you do? Hopefully, I get some parts in later this week and can get back to making some progress soon.:waah: It's hard getting back in the groove once you take a break for a while. Stay tuned. |

progress is progress.... looking good.

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"
Nice progress! I'm glad to hear good feed back on a repop door. It always bothers me to spend that kind of money to not really know what you will end up with.

[QUOTE=sdailey;4194175]Thanks Heath. Have you made any progress on your K10 yet?
Shannon, I have not done anything further on the K10 , trying to finish up my son's '67 and doing a little tune up work on the '56. I have aquired all the sheetmetal patches that the k10 will require hopefully..... |
Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"
Where to start........things have been a little crazy the past month or so and I haven't done much of anything on the truck lately.
The last thing we were working on was trying to get the driver's side rocker installed. For some reason the front and rear of the rocker tapered in toward the cab leaving a huge gap between it and the bottom of the door. We thought the rocker may have been defective so I ordered another one made by a different company. The result was still the same even with the new rocker. We then decided to make due with what we had and ended up splitting the rocker to make it line up with the door. This may seem crude but it looks like it's going to work. Rear http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0988.jpg Front http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0989.jpg http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0991.jpg This is how it lines up now since we "widened" the rocker. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0990.jpg That's about all of the "progress" that has been made in the past two months. On another note, thanks to Alan I found a great Goodmark distributor and was able to buy up the last "big" sheetmetal parts that I needed for my build. New bed floor http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0943.jpg http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0944.jpg New tailgate http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0947.jpg New inner replacement cowl http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0946.jpg Here it is mocked up. I was really impressed with how well it fit. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0981.jpg http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0984.jpg http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0983.jpg Then here's my most recent purchase. AAW's Classic Update wiring kit #510089. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0396.jpg I swear one of these days I'll get around to putting all this stuff together. So stay tuned. . |

Nice job. I really like the metal bed. I have a 73 Step Side bed on a 65. I wonder if they make it for them.
