That isn't bad. I wonder how they would look with a 2/4 drop?

Purchased from www.dashman.net. I *think* the Coy's take the same caps as TT2s, but am not sure. You will also have to consider that they may not fit the front hubs with stock rotors/dustcaps- my truck has the 1" light duty '81-'87 front rotors with a shorter snout, and I will have to dent the dustcaps slightly. Dashman does have thicker caps with clearance behind them, as well as with holes that allow the dustcap to stick through, depending on the style you're after. He will also custom make almost anything you want, for a fee, I'm sure. I will say again that these are VERY nice pieces- they fit better than the ones that came with the wheels...

Thanks! I'm not sure, but I think I'll be happy with them once I've 'worked my magic', AKA ruined a perfectly good set of wheels ;)

Coys and TT II's have different size caps, The Coys are larger.

I see some body work on a couple of spokes in the near future. ;)

Maybe it was the originals that would fit, I thought I read somewhere. Oh well, everything you read on the internet is true, right? These were even smaller, at 2" bolt circle- I like the look. And yes, maybe just a little work on a few spokes...

Wheels already look really nice. Interested to see what you have in store...

They look really good and give them that vintage road race look :metal: I won't have any problems with my dustcaps as I have the Mcgaughey's 13" Brake kit on mine and the Dust Caps don't even come close to the face of the hub.

That was the plan- now, how to make them look like cast magnesium...

Hey, Nice score getting the new wheels! Those are sweet! Sounds like a great price too. Is that including shipping?

gringoloco 10-25-2011 07:19 PM

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good C10

Plus ship, I have just over 8 in them, but there were no comparisons (in 20") for the price. Coy's have gone WAY up since I last bought them- not to mention air-body an' they mama 's got 'em now. I saw exactly zero cars on Streeters at GoodGuys- dunno if that's a good or a bad thing- at least I'll be unique! :chevy:

That's how that wheel should look. Bet they would sell alot more if they did. Just saying.

I thought about doing that, but am gonna use something a little more durable and without metallic flakes. I also have another layer of depth to add before color...

Epoxy as the filler?

Yes, I used 2-part 'kitty hair' to fill, after removing paint and heavy scuffing for some 'tooth'. Added a layer of gold body filler to smooth, followed by filler primer and finishing primer. Was going to use Lab Metal, but didn't wanna deal with the mess. Next step is to make them look more like sand cast wheels- I'm hoping the method I have in mind will produce the effect I'm after...

would sand blasting with a real heavy grain sand, give you the cast look ?

Prob would, but it might also remove the 'repair' work too. It might be tough to get the same texture evenly....

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good C10

you could fill the letters with ALL-METAL filler ?

thor 10-27-2011 12:29 PM

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good C10

what, you didn't want to buy my 14" TT's? they had the cast look you are after. :D

gringoloco 10-27-2011 12:37 PM

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good C10

Thought about having them blasted, and all-metal was one of the ideas. I'm gonna try to spray the texture on- we'll see how it goes...
