Power drums if set up properly can be great brakes....they will fade under spirited driving...but I don't plan to drive crazy in this truck ;)

If I go with big rims in the future I will likely go 5 lug front and rear but will definitely go with drop spindles and discs if/when I go with 20's

I'd have to suck those rear bumper mounts in to get the bumper closer. First time I came around and shin-knocked that thing-Society doesn't need any more violent profanity. You need one of those "Beater is Neeter" license plates from the 70's! Maybe a Keep on truckin' sticker in the back window.

^^ We gotta do something about the bumper. :D Some Chip Foose bracket shortening / modifications, .. something. Redrill the mount holes in the frame. That thing is out there man.

Template paper rub on current version, slide paper down proper amount, Ctr punch& drill holes, lop excess off, reinstall. No prob!

We discussed tucking the rear bumper last night. So its not something that has went un-noticed. Its Jonathan's call. I think if it does happen it'll have to wait until the truck sits like it should so its not tucked too much and looks silly.

Sorry guys, the "ugly" bumper stays for now....I kinda like it...only because it's a shop truck. You'd have to be trying to get tripped up on it...

IF I do change the bumper it will be to a sport bumper with flip down plate and hidden hitch...but that's not in my next few sets of plans for the truck...

Maybe I should unsubscribe ? The last three times I have commented it was taken as a degrading / disapproval or whatever .. it's your truck man, I'm just voicing an opinion.

No different than you or BmerDoc commenting on mine.. I'm just saying (like others) the bumper is hanging down a little. If you like it .. leave it. So be it. You guys have fun with it.

No prob man, and no offence was taken...I should have added smilies ;) I value all opinions...especially yours because you do great work...and I want the truck to be the best it can. I just want to get it on the road asap so I'm trying to focus on those things first :chevy: remember, I haven't even been able to drive this truck yet....I got it as a roller...

And I really need a truck for a few things and can't bring myself to rent one when I have this one almost ready to go ;)

Last night I got about an hour's time to work on it after working on the other project all afternoon and picking up parts on the way home...then taking care of sick kids ;)

Got the old license plate holder/light off that came on the truck because it originally must have been shipped with no rear bumper. Started on fixing the rear wiring but it's SHOT...will need a complete harness re-do or at least a better starting point to patch....there's like 20-25 splices in it...

Picked up the ps pump, new master cylinder, fuel filter, rubber fuel line to connect to filter (for fuel injection so it'll hold up to today's fuel blends...)

Today I worked all day at a kitchen design company. Just getting dinner and watching a movie with the family while I surf the site to catch up ;)

will try to get a little in tonight and a lot of work in tomorrow...picking up some parts for Project #1 tomorrow morning...

Yeah sick kids are no fun, it seems like mine is constantly comming down with something or other.
My plans for my truck have come to a serious halt, no funding right now and that may possibly continue for the forseable future.
Atleast yours is moving ahead so right now im living vicariously through your project :lol:

This is Jonathans build so I try to stay in the background. We have a glorious time hangin out, trying to knock out absolutly everything we can during my visits. I'm sure he won't mind if I give you a run down so you will know what to expect by the time I trudge back to my truck for the sleepy ride home.

Next time I come out we need to get the front suspension back on the truck. Then we need to get brake fluid to all four corners. Once it sets on the ground and we have some sort of pedal pressure the front clip will get outta the grass and back on the truck. All we need is a couple of bolts because as big a man as Jonathan is he can't heft that clip on by himself:lol: and it only needs to be set in place for us to continue making progress. Jonathan can install the rest of the bolts while I'm away. Once the front clip is on we are gonna get the battery in and hooked up to see what has power and what doesn't. It may drive him a little crazy because I'm sure he wants nothing more than to start this truck but I would like to do some sort of electrical check on the entire truck so I know something isn't smoldering while we are messin with the motor. After all electrical checks are performed Jonathans gonna hit the key and make sure we have a functioning starter circuit. From there all eyes will be on getting the motor started.

One thing has the project in suspension...the hurricane! Cross your fingers that it doesn't set us back!

Sounds like we're on the same page. I agree on the electrical checks. Good news is the front harness appears to be very nice and the in cab harness is a known quantity so I'm confident things will go relatively well...I'm just not hooking up the rear harness until I find a better one or rebuild a complete one....it's got waaaay too many splices...

Well hopefully you find a clean harness. If nothing else you can use a clean 127" wheelbase harness if you have a good one. We can make it work for now. Those things are set up like ribbon cable and are almost impossible to repair and make look good. I know I missed punchlist things like cooler lines and fluid levels before start up but those things will have to be done no matter how much time they consume. It ain't long now! I am really excited about several points...getting the front clip on to make it all complete again, getting it out in the sun all aired out, firing off the motor and getting it in tune and then driving around the neighborhood uncorked!

I can't wait to see the finished product. You are doing some really good work on the truck. I wish I could move mine along as fast as you are yours. It's to bad you are in Virginia, I would letter your shop logo on the door for ya just to do it.

definitely...although the harness I need is the one to the brake and reverse lights themselves...the one from the cab to the back is very good...I took that off, cleaned it and checked it and it looks good.

Can't sleep so here are a few pics...

New reman'd bendix master cylinder coated with the rustoleum spray...three coats now...

And my "toy"....kleinn chrome air horns I picked up cheap off ebay a while back....152db when hooked up to my air tank....that'll make someone move out of my way ;)

Well here are a few more then ;)

Reman'd power steering pump with painted pulley

The mufflers I picked up for $45. They are the summit version of flowmaster 40's

And the sway bar parts I've cleaned/painted/gathered. Lightly used bushings, wire wheeled and painted original clamps, and new lowered application frame mounts...I also coated these in the rust spray to hopefully make them easier to clean up down the road.
