Re: "Geronimo" 54' 3100 LS built in PA
green truck is the "green" truck in the first picture, its the 52' (52', 49', 51' in pic) I don't plan on doing a full build to it, but if I do, I'll post up a thread. one of the two patina trucks I plan to do a full build later this year with. Bagged, Stock frame, LS engine etc.

nice looking unit. just as a thought when you get time, you may want to install a "U" shaped fitting on your heater hoses so the coolant can flow through there. I think it needs to have flow. maybe a read on this site will help when you get time.

Re: "Geronimo" 54' 3100 LS built in PA
Im hooking heater hoses up soon anyway, but thanks yes you are right it would need more flow if I ran it alot. I'v ran it up to temp and it was fine. but I would def rec a U shape heater hose.

some copper pipe fittings from home depot would likely suffice.

Re: "Geronimo" 54' 3100 LS built in PA
That trans controller will be really nice to fine tune when driving. Ya get your '51 working again and we can go for a cruse together in October.

5-23 If any of you are still following this drawn out build. Some updates. Got front clip on. Got all the lights working and most of wiring done, just need to wire up tail lights. Got one door on and still need to adjust it and put weather strip on and glass in, then windshield. Got bed on for good. Got the fuel filler pretty much done. Need to put pass side door and running board on. Need to hinge and set the hood.
Been waiting on the seat at upholstery for over 2 months, I'm about to just take it to someone else. Need to do up gauges in inside and button up a few other things. Will be test driving it soon and praying the shakedown won't eat up my whole summer! The front does set a tad higher at this point, I did set it up to be level so once the springs level out I think the stance will be perfect. |

Oh, for all you AD guys. You should try an make it out to the AD Nationals in Franklin Indiana this year. Sept 15th weekend. I did this design and printed some shirts to spread the word. We'll be printing a bunch more for the event with sponsors on back. This picture is super low quality, sorry.

Thanks guys, its really so close. Got the rear lights all working. It was a PIA trying to find original napa lights that fit in this rear bumper. So I found a set that advance and tractor supply sell that just squeeze into the biggest opening in the bumper. We will prolly just put reflectors in the smaller ports. I also finalized the fuel filler. It was a very drawn out hour eating process. My whole issue was I didn't cut the original bed floor out and raise it. He wanted to keep the original bed and it wasn't coming apart easily. So I was just able to get this to work, using a blazer 20g fuel tank and the filler is modified and from I think a 2000 silverado or something similar. |
Re: "Geronimo" 54' 3100 LS built in PA
That bumper is huge. Nice work

Re: "Geronimo" 54' 3100 LS built in PA
it is and very heavy. I didn't like it at first, but now its growing on me.

Re: "Geronimo" 54' 3100 LS built in PA
Are you planning to attend the show?
|
Re: "Geronimo" 54' 3100 LS built in PA
I'd like to, but if I do I most likely wouldn't be bringing any trucks. I got too many irons in the fire as it is. Its a ways away, but you know how fast summer ends and you don't have half of your to do list done!

6-9 Got windshield in, was a little nervous bc it had a chip in it, but I epoxied it. I think its good, only my second 54' windshield I'v done. Finally got the seat back. this was out of a 98' chevy truck and I knew from the getgo the shape was way too modern. But, its hard to find bench seats and esp one that will fit. So the upholster had to do some customizing to it. I think it turned out pretty good. He charged us $350 and took over two months. I didn't mind the price and the wait, but the communication lacked. We knew the blue wasn't going to match the truck, but.... I just hope that won't be an issue down the road with wanting to change it up. I'll be making door panels out of the tan material.
Tons of little things to do that really make me say "why don't I remember how much work really goes into these things". It drives me nuts getting down the final touches and all the things we still have to buy. |

Looks good Henry...Jim

Re: "Geronimo" 54' 3100 LS built in PA
Wow, that seat looks really good!
|
Re: "Geronimo" 54' 3100 LS built in PA
thanks guys, not quite as "old" looking as I'd like but it is pretty cool. The blue actually has a pretty cool texture to it in person. Should look even better when interior is completely finished.

Re: "Geronimo" 54' 3100 LS built in PA
Nice looking seat!! Is that the original seat shape, just with different cover?
|
Re: "Geronimo" 54' 3100 LS built in PA
its from a 98 silverado. Upholster guy claimed he had to do alot of reshaping and pattern making, but really just as I suspected, looks like the back bumps were shaved down. he made it out to be a huge ordeal. But the sides I know couldn't come down because the frame is right there.

Re: "Geronimo" 54' 3100 LS built in PA
Yah I still thought it was good. If he just made a basic pattern off a stock seat, he said he would been more like 230ish. Which I'v had places be at that also if they know the pattern well. But the darn thing stinks like cigarette smoke so we gotta spray it with something which is not very professional but, can't win them all.
