I'd say that at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale that is a Tuesday or early in the day Thursday truck that might bring a 50K bid. No doubt that there was a ton of money spent on it and it is a nice truck but a solid color paint job without the black fenders and running boards would probably raise it's honest resale value 10K.

While I love Cad 500 engines the big money boys want an LS engine. They want a matching overdrive automatic.

A quick search says that Tesla Model X's are going for between 75 and 110 K in the Portland Oregon area depending on year model and sub model. It might be an honest trade for a 2017 like this one https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...ckType=listing

From where he lives I'd say it just served as a flag pole, You didn't see any socialist campaign signs in that area the last time I drove though it.

I thought it would work for trimming trees around the farm but at my age climbing a ladder hanging of the top of the truck isn't a wise idea.

Must be lifted enough so they didn't have to cut the cab floors to fit it in. Also never seen slatted park bench seats before.

Cab and nose are sitting on a complete Dodge 4x4 chassis. No doubt spaced up a bit.

I don't think I would want to do a lot of miles sitting in that seat.

The dodge chassis AD is gone already!!! I always wanted to have a Cummins powered AD but ones i saw the engine was like right up to the seat and also had noise issues. Was even thinking about using my 2004 2500 as a donor. Glad i didn't. In addition darn thing is worth almost what a paid for it when new due to current New Vehicle "crisis".

I've been wanting to sell my dually flatbed and buy a Dodge Cummins or Ford 7.3 crew cab to pull my boat and my car trailer but they are priced sky high way around here.

Just a heads up Cops say 6 speed 5.9 Cummins trucks are very popular with thieves for just chassis. Friend had his stolen and it disappeared.

Any newer "tow rig" truck I buy will have to have an automatic in it. My flatbed has a 454 and 4 speed and that is a real pain on a boat ramp with a 25 ft boat. Plus that truck needs a home where it gets to work more and not sit for weeks at a time. With the 10 ft flatbed and hoist I just don't drive it to town to be driving it to town.

I'd say that any rig with a popular engine combo for swaps or that is popular for chassis swaps including S-10 trucks especially get stolen way too often.

I'm waiting for someone to come on here or on one of the FB AD truck groups saying that they got arrested and had their truck impounded because the frame under it showed up as coming from a stolen truck. That's why I stress that if you do a frame swap with any frame make sure that you have real documentation that you legally own that frame.

For a while the big theft item here was new Ford Diesel pickups but primarily when they were the plain model that was all white. They didn't bother the fancy ones with the flashy paint and deluxe interior but took the plain white work truck beside it. The thought was that they were either being taken out of the country or taken to the oil fields where they looked like 50% of the other trucks there.

That firewall is mighty clean! Move that battery and you've got yourself a clean engine bay. Overall it looks like its in great shape, someone who already plans to sandblast and paint might be $ ahead starting here.

That was what I was thinking when I posted it, on these trucks it is pay me now or pay me more later.

That paint has been on it long enough that any issues they tried to hide would show up even when stored inside. The even older paint on the interior isn't hiding anything but the usual rust you see on most isn't there. That should mean that the buyer should be able to save a lot of hours of body work or a lot of dollars at a body shop plus having it in body shop jail for a long time. Plus it is a big window 55 and that adds a lot of value right there.

Then add in that it is 225 miles from my driveway to where the truck sits.

Could be a case of "I have it listed for sale but no one wants to pay what it is worth" to a significant other hounding him to sell it.

I went to look at a car a few years ago and discovered that the guy's wife was hounding him to sell it even though it was his first car that he had bought while in high school. She rude and abusive when I was there looking at the car and I passed.

That one belongs to one of our regular long-time members. I think he has a build thread on it on here and was one of those trucks that you thought would never get sold. If a guy wanted a really nice AD panel that would be one you would seriously want to consider.

Check this out. Pricey for the amount of rust but it could be a helluva nice truck. I’d bring it back fairly stock since it still has the original Pontiac engine. I’d just static lower it and put 17” wheels on it, no bigger. Use it to tow my boat!

Meaning that they hope a few guys will get in a bidding war. I went out to buy a parts rig a few years back trailer in tow and cash in pocket to buy it on an OBO deal and made an offer that I thought was more than fair in cash green money and take it away now. The guy tells me that no- OBO means best offer over ______ and I could make a bid on it over what he had listed it for. Last I saw it was still sitting in the same spot several years later.

Unfortunately, people routinely asking "what is your absolute bottom dollar price?" has created this..sellers can just ask the same question, right? "What is your absolute highest possible offer?"

I've had people make low offers, and I've countered with an offer above my initial asking price...why not, right? if a buyer can ask to put more money back in their pocket, well so can I.

I've had guys respond to ads with "will you take 50% of asking price because that's all the money I have".
I usually respond with something like, "you should look within your budget range"
People can be pretty bold when they are not face to face.

That is called bargaining. I don't mind that if the guy is standing in front of me and makes an honest cash offer. The problem in this area is the guys who send you a text with a low ball offer. That has saved me the trouble of figuring out how to haul a couple of clunkers to the scrap yard or calling the local wrecking yard to give them to. My long time friend who owned the yard I gave probably 30 cars to over the years just passed away last month after a long illness. I went to school with his whole family and his son in law is a friend of my son. I gave him a lot of hulks when scrap metal was too low for me to deal with hauling them 25 miles a pickup load at a time to the scrap yard. When scrap got real high there were guys buying clunkers and towing them 170 miles to the scrap yard in Portland Oregon and selling them. Towing them with a tow dolly.

That guy who told me that "best offer" meant the highest bid over a certain time and I was welcome to place a bid did mean bids over his listed price because I gave him an offer that matched the actual cash I had on me and he laughed and said no, that wasn't how it worked with him. He actually thought he was auctioning the rig off from that as the starting bid. I still don't know if he ever sold it but talked to another guy who had made an offer within pocket change of what I had made.

I don't like going anywhere to buy something that costs over about 500 with cash in my pocket anymore although 30 years ago I did it a lot. I'm looking into buying an OT car now and if i do it I'll have the seller go with me to the bank in his town to arrange a transfer of funds to him.
