Re: My 93 Crewcab Build

sounds like a plan. I have to pick up me drive shaft some times soon. get a rear window, weld up the top of the cab and get ready to to do the body work around the cab where i welded. put the tank back, put bolts in the frame where I weded and braced. Im half way there. But I got a ton of other stuff getting in the way. smh

Re: My 93 Crewcab Build

Today i finished up the wiring on the engine, new hoses, thermostat, and belt. Removed the trans and put the new torque converter in, have to go back in with it tomorrow. Cut out all the old exhaust and got the new stuff with the flowmaster ready. Have to modify the trans mount for the 4l60 but its getting very close :metal:

? I have a 1990 454TBI can I put any kind of 454 Aluminium intake on it or does it have to be a specific model to put a carb on it?

Not sure about the BB but small blocks have 4 bolts that are straight down verses angled for the TBI and vortechs and they need a specific style of intake or you can do what i have done and angle them out with a drill and go with it

From what I understand, some of the 454's come stock with an adapter to mount the tbi to a carb intake...I'm not sure if they all were like this or if it was certain years. All of the 454's with tbi I have seen have perimeter valve cover bolts, so I'm guessing maybe the heads stayed the same from carb to tbi...

New trans and converter in again
http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...508_115325.jpg

had to swap out the spindle from a '91 because the '95 ones had bigger inside diameter bearings and the rotors are about $30 more each because of the ABS that i was not using. Got teh new brake lines and calipers on it (sorry Joe i forgot to get the pic when done )

http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...508_134451.jpg

Got most of the wiring all straightened out in engine bay but still have the taillight wires to go. All sensors on engine and filled with oil. Have to take back oil filter and trans filter (got to shop and oil filter was missing the O ring  and trans filter was not even close but the box was right.. got the trans cross member holes drilled to mount to the frame and now its down to the nitty gritty :D

Oh it started! And i have pics you pic whore!! :haha:

Well i picked up a truck super cheap yesterday (one i painted a few months ago) Got hit and bent the frame beyond repair. Its been to frame shop but still is not right so i got it for parts...

http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...526_185640.jpg

Going to use the back half off of this truck and graft onto mine because the ride kind of sucks with everything moved forward.. was good thought but im not happy so here we go again.

Re: My 93 Crewcab Build

:haha: :haha: :haha:

You guys added more gravel by the shop, eh?
Very nice!!

Looking at those pics...
The frames don't look much different.
How much will you actually gain by swapping the frame?
Are the extra cab springs shorter?

scotts62 05-27-2012 11:26 AM

Re: My 93 Crewcab Build

Yeah added a trailer drive

The frame on the crew starts dropping way back by the rear end and the one on the red on starts about 10" from back of the cab, all measured up to be the same but ill get them side by side and go from there.

Basically it would work but i probably wont be able to haul anything and the ride sucked

Re: My 93 Crewcab Build

Wow, I had never noticed this thread until now. Is it done yet? Gonna leave the sealed beams or upgrade to a composite front end? And, how are there enough hours in the day for everything you seem to do? Wow!

I was just cruising the 88-98 area since I spent the long weekend busting apart an old worn out, beat up and left for dead in a field for 5 years K1500. Making sure I was not leaving anything on the carcass before it gets shipped overseas as shredded metal.
