Your tranny looks a little different than mine.

The housing on the output shaft is longer on mine. I need to measure the shaft to see if your yoke will work. I'll try to get a pick tomorrow from the back and we'll compare.

The driveshaft I sent you a picture of is from a truck, not my motor, so it should work.

Thanks Al!

So I've been taking my time pulling the motor and tranny. I've tried to be very methodical so nothing gets missed and I don't tear anything up (I even have a checklist...;)). So today after double checking everything, I'm ready to hook the engine hoist up and realize the boom is not long enough...:(. So I guess it will have to wait one more day until I can track one down tomorrow. What a bummer, I'm ready for this part to be over.....:waah:. If I can't find a hoist with a long enough boom, I may just buy one of these:

It was bittersweet. I hated "downing" my only running truck, but everything fell into place when I sold all the old parts. I know I will be much happier with it once I get it back together.

I can understand that. I'm dreading bringing the suburban down for the 6.2 swap. Especially since it is my daily driver. I'm trying to make sure I have everything ready to go when I pull the tired big block out.

From what I've read, it sounds like you're doing your homework, :). Can't wait to see you back on the road.

heres some shots of my junkyard motor cleaned up. 5.3 iron block, takeoff ls2 intake and rails, and some valve covers and coil relocators. paint and cleaner goes along way. the holley brackets are user friendly and super clean. they look the way gm should have done it. i reused the alt. bought a ps pump and the vintage air 508 bolted right in. this thing started out as a high intake truck motor.

That looks sweet! Do you think it will work with my TVS 1900 Magnacharger?

??? the bracket kits are the same for all 5 water pumps or the 3 different offsets. there are a 1,2,or3 spacer kits depending on your set up. i would call there tech dept. they were super helpful when i called.

Still pulling parts off and cleaning stuff up!! I pulled the inner and outer heater box off today. I found some nice shiny gold paint underneath. I wish I could figure out a way to get the spray on black paint off without messing up the gold paint underneath. I tried some acetone, but that didn't work to well. If I can't figure it out, I'll just shoot some more black semi-gloss on it. I also mounted the new Dakota digital gauges. I think they are going to fit right in with the mostly stock interior.....:metal:

Thanks Ernie. I'm taking my time and doing a lot of planning so hopefully it will go back together as nice as it was before I tore it apart...:).

Thanks. It connects to an output wire out of the computer.

Did you try laquer thinner on the firewall? I've had luck removing unwanted paint myself with it.

Do you think it will hurt the original paint underneath?

It might. but you could just shoot black over it if it does.

It probably won't, the original finish is really hard but keep in mind it probably wasn't exactly cherry when the PO "improved" it. Just wet a rag and let it do the work, it will come off if it's just rattle can.

Please remember to wear gloves!

Very nice, but why?!?

Obviously for adjustment, but what problem did you have that made this necessary? Just curious.

color sand it off with 1500 grit wet and a 3M pad.......it works wonders....but you gotta be patient....1500 removes material so slow!
