Does it sound like it's trying when you push the knob?

I can't hear it doing anything. Is it a real pronounced noise when the knob is pushed?

I got a early Christmas present. I've been needing 2 sets of 6x9s to finish up the stereo in the Blazer. My wife is the greatest, not only did she get me two sets but they are Rockford Fostgate 3 way's!!! Its gonna sound great!:5150:

It's going to sound nice. There is nothing better then driving my blazer down the road with the radio cranked as high as it will go blessing the people around me with good rock 'n roll :)

Yes, typically you can hear it 'pumping'.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...

Tinkered with the Blazer for a few today. Figured out one of my electrical gremlins. Had both a internally regulated alternator and the factory voltage regulator wired up. Hence dim running lights. Rewired for the internally regulated alternator per writeup in electrical forum under faqs. Problem solved. Nice bright running lights. I still need to add some grounds but thats no biggy. I tried to install the 6x9's in the doors and that was a no go. One hole is all cobbed up and too big, the other is to small. So I'm back to my original plan of making custom door panels and dropping the speakers in those. It'll look better anyways. So if I'm going down that road I may as well do the fiberglass work on the rear panels for the 6x9's and the 12. I was trying to get away from doing those real labor intensive projects, lol. Picked up a neat thing at Smart Shoppers. It relays the remote signal to the head unit if you have the unit hidden like I'm doing behind the glove box door. Pretty simple install too. I was strolling through a local gun store and found a Club in the cheapy bin for 4 bucks, it works too, lol. Heres some pics and I plan on getting back into the groove now that the holidays are good and over, lol.

I think that was for vehicle no.3, lol. It was cheap anyways, gotta love cheap. Now watch the key break off in it while its on there or something, lol. I'm going to do my best to be there in July, it'll depend on the job thing. Jamie and I have already talked about caravaning down. I know it'll be done by then, I've given myself no choice, lol. :5150:

Ok I had a fun day in the palace. Took me 4 hours to clean up and put tools up. Now I know where all my tools are, lol. I was going to use the panels that are sitting in place for templates but they are kinda off, like me, lol. Not too bad but not quite right either . Got a radio to toss in the dash, got the mount made for the radio in the glove box and mounted up. Found the sun visors I was wanting to use too, just need to clean and paint them. It was a good day.

Yep, gonna be a corrections officer. Its a whole new field for me. Hope I like it, lol. Great benefits, retirement, etc. Its a state job so it can't be all bad, lol. They pay for school to so I'll probably go back and get some kind of degree.

Started on the rear panels today. Got them cut out and fitted. Got the sub set up and one 6x9 hole cut. I'm probably going to add some 12 volt outlets and lights too. Its supposed to be nasty out Friday so hopefully I can lock myself in the palace and get some fiberglass work going for the sub. Right now I'm leaning toward covering it all in 4 way stretch vinyl. I think it would come out better then just covering it in the rubber stuff. I've got the trim strips to above the panel too. Got the palace up to a cookin' 80 degrees, had to open the door, lol. The kerosene heater has an old wick so you have to run it wide open so it don't stink, lol. I'll get a wick when this one don't burn anymore:lol:.

What kind of exhaust are you running?

Trying to figure out if we'll hear the 'rumble' of the motor or the 'thump' of the bass first...? :hm:

Really great to be watching two blazers come to life!!

Who will be on the road first? Jim or Jason...?

Maybe we should start up a pole? :burnout:

Right now it would probably the exhaust, lol. Its just two straight pipes that stop just after the x-case. I know, I need to really be puttin' time in.

I'm sure it will sound good. I made a big deal about my stereo and guys were telling me not to worry about it because you weren't going to hear it anyway with it being topless. I was determined to hear it and it sounds good.

I'm just about ready to lay some fiberglass. I got the form the way I want it for the sub enclosure. I've got some glass work to do on the door panels too. Should turn out nice. Still on the fence about covering in vinyl or rolling on the rubber.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...

Laid some fiberglass mat where the plywood meets the door panel. I'll probably use kitty hair on the backside. Should be strong. Got the fabric coated in resin for the sub enclosure so I hope to start laying mat over that soon. Did some other odds and ends too. Got the temp. sending unit and electric choke hooked up. I replaced some wires that were buggin' me. I also went ahead and made a hole back beside the filler to install the tall skinny thing. Can't for the life of me think of what it is but that describes it, lol. There are 3 fuel lines that go to it. Its all for venting. When I filled the gas tank it wanted to come back out so I figure I better go ahead and hook it all up. Got the visors and holders painted too.

Got the visors mounted. Now I feel like I accomplished something, lol. The resin finally cured so I laid some mat tonight. Might take a few days but I'll eventually get the enclosure done. I'm thinkin' 3 layers should do it. Those fumes are killer from the resin too. Couldn't find my mask....

Looks good - have always wanted to build an enclosure like that - but never had a project to use it on - how is the coverage on the visors - did you do a water or rub test?

I haven't on the visors but I did on the dash pad. Nothing came off. I just cleaned the parts real good, scuffed with 220, cleaned with wax paint thinner, shot the paint. Hopefully it will hold up. If it don't I'll be in the market for some black parts, lol.

Had some more garage fun today. Got the factory radio mounted, just need to find some knobs. The heater controls are in, minus the actual heater, still haven't decided on which route to go with that yet. The clutch is adjusted. The IR remote transmitter is installed, and it works, its neat. 2 layers of fiberglass on the box and a layer on the back of the door panels. Mounted some angle in the tub for the panels to mount to. Got the dash lights working too! It was a long day.
