Thanks guys I am trying to get her going. My uncle is doing all the wiring right now. I got the exhaust installed this weekend. I am bleeding the brakes tonight. and finishing the dyno mat. Once the wiring is done I will for the truck and off to marios to get the paint on the inside finished.

You can also I see I added the final trim to the tail gate and the air cleaner will be painted. The air cleaner is from a 427 corvette motor. Mario is letting me use it. It is a rare piece so I have to give it back if I sell the truck.

WOW just went threw this build and nice truck for sure man. I have a question. On your bed floor how did you attach it to the original floor. I was thinking of doing the same thing on my 79. Never really seen a floor get put together, raising it sounds a little hard to get it to sit level again. and like you im not a fan of raised floors either.

How about round tips, with 1/2 the diameter below the bumper and 1/2 cut into the bumper, centered between the bumper bolts on both sides? Kinda like the new Dodge Ram pickups. That would look nice! Just tossing that out there.

:agree: on the exhaust...the only thing that doesn't fit....I'd almost hide them on this truck....or like Hart Rod's just peeking out at either corner at the rear bumper...

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build

Could not agree with you guys more. I hate them. I had a buddy of mine pick the truck up from the exhaust shop so I did not really no what they looked like. When I got home I was like that looks like crap. My dad likes them but I told him tough there coming off.

I was going to leave them under the truck but that would just cover the wheels and the frame in crud. So I an not sure what I am going to do.

I used one and a half inch box tubing and I attached it to the floor with bolts. If the stock floor is level it should not be and issue. Hope this helps.

I like this option too. Turndowns at the corners, similar to lotsa muscle cars.

This is the truck I was speaking of and if you wanted....you could cut the tips so you don't see them....but they still exit at the back so it doesn't get the wheels/frame dirty with the exhaust blowing dust everywhere...

I kinda liked the Z28 tips out the back myself... Maybe a rolled edge oval tip coming out the back instead? I like exhaust tips myself... I have a set of 4" straight rolled edge tips peeking out under the rear quarter panel on my '05 GMC similar to Hart Rod's truck above.

I like that better than mine. I called the exhaust shop and they stated they would change them so I will get it back down there once the truck is driving

oh ok so say you had to take the bed off how would you do that. I had an idea of running a nut and weld it to the top side welded inside of the box tubing and running the bolt from the bottom up. get what im saying sometimes my ideas only seem clear to me ahaha.

Amazing frame and project... the pics of above show what a piece of art this thing is.

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build

Other than the tips the exhaust looks great I agree either exit it out the corners or cut half circles into the bottom of the bumper and put rolled tips on coming straight back. I'm sure you'll figure something out better than what is on there. Keep up the great work.

My GMC is close to Hart Rod's, only with straight edge tips that are just a tad bigger. To me it makes the exhaust 'hit' a little more with the pipes pointed down, but without the droning that turndowns under the bed give off.

My floor is in perm. You can not remove it. If you want it removeable your idea sounds like it will work.

I only installed the unit under the dash took me 20 minutes once the glove box was out keep in mind I have done three of these units in these trucks. But it is really east to do.

Ok I understand what you are asking. I welded the bolts that mount the bed to the frame. I welded the bolt heads to the stock floor then I built the false floor above the stock bed floor. So when I put the bed on the frame i just put the washer and the nut on and you are done.
