You are lucky you have a friend that let you build a workshop.
One thing I have learned is that your garage / workshop can never be too big.

We have a 4 car garage and now it is too small for me.
We are now looking at some land so I can have a bigger play space. ;)

I like your progress. Keep it up.

Just like this Kees.... form a little box in the center and weld it into place.... cut your receiver hole and put the license plate holder over it.... flips down for the tow hitch!

Today I cut a hole in my freshly build roll pan...

Now wait for the hinges to come, then cut a new hole for the hitch and make a bracket for the electrical plug.

At the scrapyard I had a fillerdoor from a Volkswagen Golf III (Rabbit), but that wasn't going to work. It's too small and too round at the edges. I think I only can use the spring hinge from it.

With that huge license plate box you could have fit the gas filler, the propane filler, a hitch assembly and maybe a couple other hidden things behind there!!!! :lol:

Yes we have huge license plates :metal:

At the inspection I asked for US style plates, they call it 18.2 plates.
They wouldn't give it to me because I have already got a tow rate on my papers.....And they don't give it to commercial vehicles :lol::lol:

You ought to know how many American "commercial vehicles" have those 18.2 plates...countless...
But what the h*ll, I've got my registration, and if you drive 80 mph, you won't see the plates :lol::lol:

Managed to get the fillerdoor itself in.
It was a bit of a struggle to get it right, because the dimensions of the donorcar are, ofcourse, different as what I use :lol:
But it's in, only have to tweak it a little to get it perfect.

This is a part of the Volkswagen fillerdoor, only did use the spring loaded hinge:

I made the door out of 2 mm (14 gauge) steel, bent it a little to match the side of the bed

The door is welded to the hinge, the hinge is bolted to the box. I also welded in an angle iron with a rubber door stop.
Looks like a professional build :lol::lol::lol:

Next I welded all the holes shut, that the PO had made to screw his tonneau cover on....
It were only 83 holes....

btw wy not both coolant hoses in full rubber ?
the lower one with a 90 degree piece and the upper with an straight hose with a loose steel spriral so you can bend it without collapsing

That'S easy, Sander, I really don't like those straight hoses (I got one, their ugly ;)). And the lower hose didn't work out in full rubber. Because of the angle the aluminium pipe from the rad makes, it's a bit upwards.

Btw, almost roadworthy.... You know I've got a million things to do.....you know that:lol::lol:

Well Mark, quite a lot :haha:
All those little things and one construction to be made, that is the tailgate.
I do not want those chains again, so I welded the holes shut in the bedside, maybe you saw that in the last pictures.
So now I have to make something work for the tailgate ;)
Also a fair bit of wiring to do, with all that I want :dum:

Then I want to make the kickdown to work, it's electric thus must make a switch or so at the carb, plumbing for the propane, building doors, insulate the cab, reupholster the bench and so on...
So, not finished yet :lol::lol:

But, I take my time, set deadlines and go over them all the time :bann:

Had to make a box around the fuelhoses / pipes, to make sure the soft spots are save from any unseen forces :lol:
There are ofcourse some rubber elements in the fuellines that I want to protect against vandalism, thats all ;)

I would close it completely, but in a way you can open it, just in kees (haha) you need access to it.
